Prairie View A&M Basketball Releases 2017-2018 Schedule

2017-2018 Season Schedule

The Prairie View A&M men’s Basketball team will open the 2017-2018 season with an exhibition game against LeTourneau on Friday, Nov. 10 at the William Nicks Building. The non-conference portion of the schedule features games against Incarnate Word UT Rio Grande Valley SMU, TCU, and Abilene Christian

In conference play the Panthers will have home games against Arkansas-Pine Bluff Grambling State Jackson State Mississippi Valley State Southern, Texas Southern and Alcorn State They will travel to take on Alabama A&M, Alabama State cannot miss playing Louisiana Monroe in their final game of the regular season on Saturday, March 3rd at Fant-Ewing Coliseum.

Game Dates and Times

The Prairie View A&M men’s basketball team has released its game schedule for the 2017-18 Season The Panthers will open the season at home against Huston-Tillotson on Nov. 10 at 7:30 p.m.

Prairie View will play a total of 30 games this season, including 15 at the PVAMU William Nicks Building. The highlight of the home schedule will be a Dec. 2 contest against 2017 NCAA tournament participant Xavier University of Louisiana.

The Panthers will take on two other NCAA Tournament teams from a year ago in non-conference play travelling to face Texas Southern (Nov. 28) and Arkansas-Pine Bluff (Dec. 16).

Home and Away Games

Prairie View A&M basketball has released their schedule for the 2017-2018 season. The team will have 24 home games and 16 away games.

The season will start on Friday, November 10th against North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, NC. The Tigers will then have a stretch of 7 games at home, their longest of the season. They will have home games against Howard, Norfolk State Texas Southern Arkansas-Pine Bluff Alabama A&M, Southern, and Jackson State

The team’s first conference game will be on Saturday, December 2nd against Grambling State at home. They will then travel to Louisiana to take on UL Monroe on December 6th before coming back home to host Alcorn State on December 9th.

Conference Games

Prairie View A&M University men’s and women’s basketball teams released their 2017-2018 conference schedules today. The men’s team will open up conference play on December 27, 2017 on the road against Texas Southern University The women’s team opens up conference play at home on December 29, 2017 against Alcorn State University

The men’s team will have a total of 18 conference games, 9 of which will be at home and 9 away. They will play each team in the conference 2 times, once at home and once away. Their final regular season game will be played on February 28, 2018 at home against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The women’s team will have a total of 16 conference games, 8 of which will be at home and 8 away. They will play each team in the conference 2 times as well with their final regular season game taking place on March 1, 2018 on the road against Jackson State University

Non-Conference Games

The Prairie View A&M men’s Basketball team has released their non-Conference Schedule for the 2017-2018 season. The schedule features games against schools from every major conference, including a game against defending National Champion North Carolina

“We are excited about the challenges that our non-conference schedule presents,” said Head Coach Byron Smith. “We have a chance to play some of the best teams in the country and we are looking forward to the opportunity to compete at the highest level ”

The Panthers will open their season on November 10th with a game against SMU, followed by games against Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and LSU. The team will then travel to take on North Carolina on December 4th. Other notable games include a December 16th matchup against Baylor, and a January 27th game against Texas A&M.

Pre-Season Games

The Prairie View A&M basketball team has announced their pre-season schedule for the 2017-2018 season. The team will play four pre-season games, all against Division I opponents. The games will be played on the road, with the first game against Sam Houston State on November 10th. The complete pre-season schedule is as follows:

November 17th – at UT Arlington
November 20th – at Lamar

Post-Season Games

Prairie View A&M University men’s basketball head coach Byron Smith announced today the program’s 2017-2018 schedule that includes 23 Regular Season games and a trip to the Virgin Islands for the Paradise Jam Tournament

The Panthers are coming off a 2016-17 campaign in which they went 15-17 overall and 11-7 in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play to finish in fourth place. PVAMU earned the right to compete in the SWAC Tournament for the first time since joining the league prior to the 1998-99 season. The Panthers fell to eventual tournament champion Alcorn State in the Opening Round

Team Roster

The Prairie View A&M University men’s basketball team has finalized its 2017-2018 schedule, the school announced Wednesday.

The Panthers will open the season against crosstown rival Houston on Nov. 10 at the H&PE Arena. Prairie View A&M will then have a stretch of three consecutive Home Games hosting LeTourneau (Nov. 15), Concordia-Selma (Nov. 17) and Jarvis Christian (Nov. 21).

Prairie View A&M’s first road game will come against Sam Houston State on Nov. 24, before returning home to host Huston-Tillotson on Nov. 28. The Panthers take on another in-state opponent when they travel to Beaumont to face Lamar on Dec. 1, and they’ll close out their non-conference schedule with a trip to Jacksonville, Fla., to face Edward Waters on Dec. 16.

In conference play, the Panthers will open at home against Grambling State on Jan. 3, followed by road games at Alabama A&M (Jan. 6) and Mississippi Valley State (Jan. 10). Prairie View A&M then has a three-game homestand, hosting Alabama State (Jan. 13), Alcorn State (Jan. 20) and Southern (Jan 23).
