Introducing the new baseball coach
The Tennessee Baseball Team is excited to introduce its new head coach Tim Corbin Coach Corbin comes to Tennessee with an impressive resume, including a National Championship at Vanderbilt and a spot in the college baseball Hall of Fame We sat down with Coach Corbin to learn more about him and his vision for the future of Tennessee Baseball
Coach Corbin, welcome to Tennessee!
Thank you so much. I’m thrilled to be here and to have the opportunity to lead such a storied program.
What are your immediate impressions of the team?
I’ve been really impressed with the talent and character of this team. They’ve worked hard and we’re starting to see some real progress. I think we have a chance to be really special this season.
What are your long-term goals for the program?
My goal is always going to be to put a team on the field that our fans can be proud of, both on and off the field. I want us to win games, but I also want us to do it the right way and represent our university with class and dignity.
Why the change was made
On Monday, the University of Tennessee announced that Tony Vitello would be the new Head Coach of the Volunteers baseball team Vitello, who played baseball at Tennessee from 1996-1999, has been the Head coach at Vanderbilt for the past three seasons.
The change comes as a bit of a surprise, as Vanderbilt is one of the top programs in the country and Tennessee has struggled in recent years However, Vanderbilt’s athletic director said that he thinks Vitello is “ready for a new challenge.”
“Tony is a renaissance man,” said Vanderbilt athletic director Malcolm Turner. “He’s an extraordinary leader, he connects with his players and he’s done a great job here at Vanderbilt.”
Vanderbilt went to the College World Series under Vitello in 2019, and he was named SEC Coach of the Year. He will now try to turn around a Tennessee program that has not made the NCAA tournament since 2005.
What the new coach brings to the table
Patricia Hendrickson has been announced as the new head coach of the Tennessee baseball team Coach Hendrickson has years of experience in coaching baseball and she is excited to bring her knowledge to the team. Here are some things that the new coach brings to the table.
-A love for the game: Coach Hendrickson loves baseball and she wants her players to love it too. She wants them to have fun while they re Playing and to enjoy being part of a team.
-A wealth of knowledge: Coach Hendrickson knows a lot about baseball, and she is excited to share her knowledge with her players. She wants them to be able to understand the game and to know what they need to do to be successful.
-A desire to win: Coach Hendrickson is competitive, and she wants her team to be successful. She is going to work hard to make sure that her players are prepared for every game and that they have a chance to win.
How the team will benefit from the change

Under Coach Corbin’s leadership, the team can expect to see an increase in winnings and a return to the playoffs. The team will benefit from his experience and knowledge of the game. We are confident that he will be a great asset to our program and we are excited to have him on board.
How the fans will benefit from the change
The new coach for the Tennessee baseball team is a fan favorite. He has a lot of energy and he knows how to get the fans involved in the game. He is also very good at communicating with the players and he knows how to get them to play their best.
What the expectations are for the new coach
When Tennessee introduced Mike Fox as its new head baseball coach on June 27, the program’s administration made it clear what expectations are for the new leader of the Volunteers.
“Our goal for the program is very simple,” said Tennessee Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics John Currie. “We want to win a National Championship We want to do it the right way. We want to do it with integrity, and we want to do it with class. And we want to do it in a way that makes all of our great fans proud.”
Fox, who arrives in Knoxville after 17 seasons at North Carolina where he compiled a record of 859-468-1 and led the Tar Heels to 11 NCAA Tournament appearances, including seven trips to the College World Series said he is excited for the challenge ahead.
“I think this is a destination job,” Fox said. “It’s one of those places where if you’re fortunate enough to get an opportunity like this, you need to jump at it…I really believe that we can win a National Championship here. That’s why I took this job.”
What the new coach’s goals are
In his first season as the University of Tennessee’s head Baseball Coach Tony Vitello is aiming high.
“Our goal is to win the SEC championship and to make it to the College World Series ” Vitello said. “We have the talent to do it, and we’re going to work hard to make it happen.”
Vitello, who came to Tennessee after four seasons as the head coach at the University of Arkansas said he is excited about the challenge of taking over a program with such a rich history.
“Tennessee has a great baseball tradition, and I’m honored to be the head coach ” Vitello said. “I can’t wait to get started and to help this program reach its full potential.”
How the new coach plans to achieve those goals
As the new head coach of the Tennessee baseball team, Dave Serrano said he plans to focus on three main goals: developing young talent, instilling toughness and winning championships.
In his introductory press conference Tuesday afternoon, Serrano spoke about how he plans to achieve those goals.
“First and foremost, we’re going to put an emphasis on developing young talent,” he said. “We’re going to put a premium on recruiting high-caliber student-athletes to Tennessee.”
Serrano said he plans to instill toughness in his team by creating a competitive environment within practices. He also stressed the importance of playing with passion and having fun.
“We’re going to demand a lot out of our players, but we’re also going to demand that they enjoy the process,” he said. “We want them to have fun playing the game.”
Lastly, Serrano said his goal is to win championships. He spoke about how he plans to build a team that is capable of consistently competing for SEC and national titles.
“We’re going to recruit and develop talent with the ultimate goal of winning championships,” he said. “That’s what we’re here to do.”
What the players think of the new coach
The Tennessee baseball team has a new Head Coach and the players seem to be unanimously behind him.
First baseman Tyler Lipscomb says that Coach Stone is “a great guy and a Great Coach ” outfielder Blake Reddick adds that Stone is “a player’s coach” who knows how to get the best out of his players.
Pitcher Nick Lee says that he’s excited to play for Coach Stone, and that Stone has already made a positive impact on the team.
It sounds like the players are really buying into what Coach Stone is selling, and that he has the support of the team. With a good mix of talent and attitude, the Tennessee Baseball Team could be in for a great season under their new leader.
How the new coach plans to turn the team around
In January of 2019, the University of Tennessee at Knoxville announced that Mike Anderson would be the new head baseball coach Anderson, who is originally from Tennessee, played college baseball at the University of Georgia before being drafted by the Montreal Expos in 1985. He then spent four years as a minor league player before becoming a coach.
Anderson has been a head coach for 17 years, including stops at Georgia Perimeter College, Georgia State University and the University of Alabama Birmingham. In 2013, he was named the National Coach of the Year by Baseball America after leading UAB to its first conference championship and NCAA tournament appearance in program history.
The Volunteers have not made an NCAA tournament appearance since 2005, and Anderson will be tasked with turning the team around. He inherits a squad that went 29-27 overall and 13-17 in SEC play last season.
