In the world of Professional Basketball a “bust” is a player who is drafted in the first round but fails to live up to expectations.

For every Lebron James or Kevin Durant that enters the league and becomes a superstar, there are multiple players who never come close to reaching their potential. Top 2022 NBA Draft Prospects: Risers

First on our list is Jalen Suggs a point guard out of Gonzaga. Suggs was a highly touted recruit coming into college and lived up to the hype in his one season with the Bulldogs, averaging 14 points, 5.3 assists and 6.1 rebounds per game while shooting 43.5 percent from three-point range His strong play helped Gonzaga to a perfect 28-0 record and a No. 1 ranking in the AP poll before the COVID-19 pandemic ended their season prematurely.

Suggs is now being projected as a lottery pick in most mock drafts and is one of the leading contenders to be taken first overall. He has good size for a point guard at 6-4, 200 pounds and is an excellent athlete with great speed and quickness. He’s also a very good shooter with deep range and has shown tha he can score in a variety of ways, whether it’s driving to the basket or pull up jumpers off the dribble.

Another player who has seen his stock rise lately is Cade Cunningham a small forward from Oklahoma State Cunningham was widely considered to be the No. 1 prospect in last year’s high school class but elected to return to school for his freshman season instead of going straight to the NBA.

Cunningham had an excellent freshman year for the Cowboys, averaging 20 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists per game while shooting 46 percent from three-point range. He’s shown that he can do a little bit of everything on the offensive end and is already one of the best players in college basketball despite being just 19 years old.

Mock drafts have started to catch up on Cunningham’s rise and he’s now being projected as a surefire top-five pick in next year’s draft. At 6-8, 220 pounds with a 7-1 wingspan, Cunningham has great size for a small forward and is an above-average athlete with good quickness and explosiveness. He’s also an excellent shooter with deep range who can create his own shot off the dribble or knock down shots as part of catch-and-shoot situations

His biggest issue has been his efficiency, as he has been one of the most turnover-prone players in college basketball

4. Johnny Juzang SG/SF, Kentucky: Juzang was seen as a potential lottery pick last year, but he has struggled mightily this season. He is averaging just 9 points per game while shooting 38 percent from the field and 27 percent from three-point range. His biggest issue has been his efficiency, as he has been one of the least efficient players in College Basketball this season
