The NBA is a league full of talented players who can stuff the Stat Sheet in a variety of ways. One of the most impressive feats a player can achieve is a triple double which is when a player stuffs the stat sheet in three different categories.
There have been some great triple double leaders in NBA history but who currently sits atop the leaderboard? Here are the top triple double leaders
Russell Westbrook
With 42 triple-doubles in the 2016-2017 season, Russell Westbrook has not only set a new NBA record, but he’s also become the first player in 55 years to average a triple-double for an entire season. Westbrook’s superhuman feat is all the more impressive when you compare it to some of the other greats who have come close to matching his numbers. Oscar Robertson
Oscar Robertson nicknamed “The Big O”, is an American retired professional basketball player who played for the Cincinnati Royals and Milwaukee Bucks The 6 ft 5 in (1.96 m), 205 lb (93 kg) guard was a 12-time All-Star and 11-time member of the All-NBA team He is the only player in NBA history to average a triple-double for an entire season. In 1962, Robertson led the league in scoring with 30.8 points per game becoming the only player besides Bill Russell to win an Scoring Title while playing on a losing team. Robertson also remains the only player ever to average at least 10 points, 10 assists, and 10 rebounds per game in a season. He was voted one of the 50 greatest players in NBA history in 1996 and inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1961.
Magic Johnson
Magic Johnson is widely regarded as one of the greatest basketball players of all time. During his Hall of Fame career, he racked up an impressive total of 138 triple doubles. That puts him at the top of the list for most triple doubles in NBA history

Jason Kidd who played for the Dallas Mavericks New Jersey Nets and New York Knicks is the NBA’s all-time leader in triple doubles. A triple double is defined as a player who reaches double digits in three of the five statistical categories: points, rebounds, assists, blocks or steals.
Kidd accumulated 109 career triple doubles over his 19 seasons in the league. He is followed by Oscar Robertson (181), Magic Johnson ( 138), Russell Westbrook (130), and Lebron James (84).
Wilt Chamberlain
Wilt Chamberlain is the NBA’s all-time leader in triple doubles, with 78 in his career. He is also the only player in NBA history to average a triple double for an entire season, which he did in 1967-68.
Larry Bird
One of the best players in the history of the National Basketball Association Larry Bird was a lethal combination of shooting touch, passing prowess, and defensive intensity. In total, Bird tallied 21 triple-doubles during his Hall of Fame career. That puts him in fourth place on the all-time list behind Magic Johnson (138), Oscar Robertson (101), and Jason Kidd (87). But when you consider that Bird played nearly 200 fewer games than those three legends, it’s clear that he was one of the most efficient triple-double producers in NBA History

James Harden
James Harden is an American Professional Basketball player for the Houston Rockets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for Arizona State where he was named a consensus All-American and Pac-10 Conference Player of the Year in 2009. He was selected with the third overall pick in the 2009 NBA draft by the Oklahoma City Thunder

He played for the Cincinnati Royals, Kansas City–Omaha Kings, New York Nets and Boston Celtics He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1991.
Archibald was a highly rated point guard coming out of Taft High School in the Bronx borough of New York City He made the 1970 NBA All-Rookie Team and was voted into the 1971 NBA All-Star game where he set an All-Star record with 22 assists: a total which stood until 1984 when Isiah Thomas had 23.
