Get to know the 2019-2020 USI basketball roster These are the guys (and gals) that will be representing the Eagles on the court this season!

2019-2020 Roster

The 2019-2020 roster for the University of Southern Indiana men’s basketball team is as follows:

· seniors – Jaykwon Walton, Matej Buvinic, John Cornwell, and Devin Caldwell
· juniors – Jacob Norman, Harry Crawford, and Aaron Goins
· sophomores – Jabril Trice, Noah Frederking, and Sam Skinner
· freshmen – Kobe Powell, Alex Stein, and Jeremie Tyler

New Additions

The University of Southern Indiana men’s Basketball team has announced the addition of six players to the 2019-2020 roster.

The Screaming Eagles will welcome four transfers and two incoming freshmen to the program. Head Coach Rodney Watson will look to his new additions to help fill the void left by last year’s graduating seniors.

“We are excited about the potential of this year’s team,” Watson said. “We have a good mix of experienced players and young talent that we think can compete for a spot in the GLVC tournament.”

USI will add four Division I transfers to the roster: guard/forward Cooper Bybee (Wichita State University), guard Keenan Simmons (University of Louisville), forward Elliott Sentner (Indiana State University), and guard/forward Jesse winciechowski (University of Evansville).

Incoming freshman include forward Brayton Bailey (Munster, Indiana) and guard Ty Hill (Owensboro, Kentucky).

The University of Southern Indiana men’s basketball team will have a familiar look when it takes to the floor for the 2019-2020 Season as 10 letterwinners and four starters return from last year’s squad that posted a 23-10 overall record and finished second in the Great Lakes Valley Conference with a 16-4 mark.

Player Highlights

This year’s USI men’s Basketball Roster is full of both new and familiar faces. Six new players join the team, while four players return from last year. Get to know the 2019-2020 roster with player highlights below.

Dalton Bretz, Guard
-6’1” junior guard from Evansville, Indiana
-Averaged 9.5 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game last season
-Named to the All-Great Lakes Valley Conference Second Team and the All-Defensive Team

Cooper Bybee, Forward
-6’7” freshman forward from Henderson, Kentucky
– averaged 16.1 points and 9.1 rebounds per game as a senior in high school
-Named First Team All-State and Second Team All-Region as a senior

USI Basketball Schedule

The University of Southern Indiana men’s Basketball team will open the 2019-20 season on the road against the University Of Indianapolis on Tuesday, November 5. The Screaming Eagles will play their first Home game of the season against Mid-Continent University on November 9.

The Eagles are schedule to play 21 home games this season, including contests against conference rivals Lewis University, Truman State University and UW-Parkside.

Schedule highlights include:
-The GLVC/GLIAC Challenge at Michigan Technological University on December 6-7. The Eagles will host Xavier University on Saturday, December 14 as part of ESPN’s College Hoops Tipoff Marathon and travel to face Murray State University on Saturday, January 4.

Game Highlights

The University of Southern Indiana men’s basketball team is entering the 2019-2020 season with a lot of hype. They are coming off a strong 2018-2019 campaign in which they won 23 games and made it to the NCAA Division II Midwest regional tournament They are also returning a majority of their Key Players from last year’s squad.

One player to Watch This Season is senior guard Matej Svoboda. Svoboda was named Honorable Mention All-American by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) last season. He is also a two-time All-Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) selection. Svoboda averaged 16.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game last season. He will be looked upon to provide leadership for this year’s team.

Another player to keep an eye on is junior forward Levi Dungey. Dungey was named GLVC Newcomer of the Year last season after averaging 15.1 points and 6.9 rebounds per game He will be counted on to provide scoring and rebounding once again this season.

The USI men’s basketball team has high expectations entering the 2019-2020 season. With a strong core of returning players, they will be looking to make a deep run in the NCAA Division II Tournament

USI Basketball Alumni

The University of Southern Indiana men’s basketball team will have a lot of new faces on the court this season. Including eight new freshmen, the team has only three returners from last year’s squad.

This year’s team will be led by junior forward Drekmiller, who averaged 10.5 points and 5.9 rebounds per game last season. The other two returners are senior guard Tate and junior guard Stapleton.

The eight newcomers include:

The University of Southern Indiana men’s Basketball team is coached by Rodney Watson. He is assisted by Todd Schaefer, Brandon Dameris and Brent Owens. The team’s director of operations is Andy Waggoner.

USI Basketball Facilities

The University of Southern Indiana’s men’s Basketball Team has a long and successful history. The team has competed in the NCAA Division II tournament 21 times, including five trips to the Elite Eight and one appearance in the National Championship game. The team plays its home games at the PAC arena, located on the USI campus in Evansville, Indiana.
