USM Baseball: Today’s Schedule

The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) Baseball Team is a NCAA Division 1 program that competes in Conference USA The Golden Eagles are currently led by Head Coach Scott Berry.

USM Baseball has a long tradition of success, appearing in the NCAA tournament 17 times and making 5 College World Series appearances. Notable alumni include Boston Red Sox All-Star second baseman Dustin Pedroia, San Francisco Giants relief pitcher Seth McClung, and Chicago White Sox pitcher Kent Mercker.

The Golden Eagles play their home games at Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field on the USM campus in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

USM Baseball: Game 1 – Preview

The University of Southern Maine’s Huskies will take on the Bates Bobcats in the first game of their three-game series today. The Huskies are coming off a tough loss to the University of Maine at Orono, while the Bobcats are coming off a win against Husson University

The game will start at 3:00pm EST and will be played at USM’s baseball field The Huskies are currently ranked third in the conference, while the Bobcats are ranked seventh.

USM Baseball: Game 1 – Recap

In game one of the series, the University of Southern Maine’s offense was on display as they won by a score of 11-5. The Huskies were able to plate five runs in both the first and second innings. USM’s top three batters in the lineup (Domenic Di Ricco, Alex Markakis, and Camppbell) each had two hits in the game. On the mound, starter Connor McClellan went six innings, giving up three earned runs on six hits while striking out four batters.

USM Baseball: Game 2 – Preview

The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) Golden Eagles continue their quest for the NCAA Tournament tonight as they take on the University of Alabama Birmingham (UAB) Blazers in game two of the Conference USA tournament. First pitch is set for 7:00 pm CT and the game can be seen live on ESPNU.

The Golden Eagles are coming off a 9-4 victory over the Charlotte 49ers in their opening game of the tournament. Freshman outfielder Matt Wallner continued his hot hitting, going 3-4 with two RBIs, a run scored and a stolen base Wallner is now hitting .471 with four home runs 10 RBIs and four stolen bases in C-USA play.

On the mound, USM will start senior right-hander Nick Debarr. Debarr has been excellent lately, posting a 1.93 ERA over his last three starts. In that span, he has struck out 22 batters while walking just four. For the season, Debarr is 5-4 with a 3.86 ERA in 14 starts.

The Blazers will counter with junior right-hander Jake Meyers Meyers has had a solid season, going 6-3 with a 3.48 ERA in 13 starts. In his last outing, he took a no-decision after allowing three runs (two earned) in 6.2 innings against Florida Atlantic

Offensively, UAB is led by junior third baseman Clay Payne who is hitting .308 with seven home runs and 36 RBIs. The Blazers have struggled to score runs at times this season, but they have shown the ability to put up big numbers, scoring 10 or more runs five times this year.

This is the second meeting between these two teams this season, with USM winning the first game 9-6 back on April 15th. The Golden Eagles are looking to reach the Conference USA tournament semifinals for the first time since 2014 while UAB is trying to advance to Saturday for the first time since 2010./

The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) Golden Eagles played their second Game Today against the University of Alabama Crimson Tide The game was held at the George L. Bass Memorial Library on the USM campus in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. The Crimson Tide won the game, with a score of 7-2.

USM Baseball: Game 3 – Preview

The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) Golden Eagles baseball team will take on the University of Alabama (UA) Crimson Tide in game three of their best-of-five series today. The first two games of the series were won by USM, giving them a chance to clinch the series with a win today First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 PM CT at Alex Box Stadium in Baton Rouge Louisiana.

Probable starting pitchers for today’s game are junior right-hander Colby Delahoussaye for USM and freshman right-hander Connor Prielipp for UA. Delahoussaye has a 3-1 record and 3.38 ERA in five starts this season, while Prielipp has a 1-0 record and 2.45 ERA in four starts.

The third game of the USM Baseball Tournament has just concluded, with the team coming out on top with a score of 3-2. This win puts them in the lead for the tournament, and they will advance to the next round.

USM Baseball: Overall Series Recap

The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) baseball team faced off against the University of Alabama Birmingham (UAB) in a three-game series this past weekend. The first game of the series was a pitcher’s duel, with USM’s starting pitcher throwing 8 innings of scoreless ball. However, UAB’s offense came alive in the 9th inning and scored 2 runs off of USM’s closer to take the game 1-0. In game two, the Golden Eagles’ offense exploded for 13 runs on 15 hits, including 5 home runs USM went on to win game two by a score of 13-3. The third and final game of the series was a back-and-forth affair, with each team taking turns leading. However, it was USM who ultimately came out on top, winning by a score of 6-5 to take the series 2 games to 1.

April 5: USM vs. LSU – 7:00 pm CT

The Golden Eagles will face off against SEC powerhouse LSU in what promises to be a tough test. USM will look to keep their hot start going against a Tigers team that is always tough at home.

April 6: USM vs. LSU – 6:30 pm CT

USM will face LSU again in the second game of the series. The Golden Eagles will look to pull off the upset and take the series against a tough Tigers team.

April 7: USM vs. LSU – 1:00 pm CT
