The University of Texas baseball team is set to begin their season next week and their roster has finally been released. The team is made up of 28 players, 14 of which are pitchers. Here is the complete list:

Pitchers

Ace: Cole Winn, RHP

Winn is a key piece of the pitching staff and will likely be the Opening Day starter. He’s a hard-throwing right-hander with good control. His fastball sits in the low 90s, and he also has a plus curveball and changeup.

Closer: Parker Joe Robinson, LHP

Robinson is a left-handed reliever who will be tasked with shutting down games in the late innings. He has a good fastball that sits in the low 90s, and he also has a sharp slider that can be tough on hitters.

The UT Baseball Team is gearing up for another exciting season, and there are a few players that fans should keep an eye on. Here are 5 players to watch out for in 2019:

1. Bailey Horn – A Junior outfielder, Horn batted .333 last season with 8 home runs and 41 RBIs. He was named second-team All-Big 12 and was a key player in the Longhorns’ run to the 2018 College World Series

2. Joshua Jung – A Junior third baseman, Jung is one of the best hitters on the team. He batted .316 last season with 6 home runs and 41 RBIs, and he’s expected to be even better this year.

3. Tristen Lutz – A Sophomore outfielder, Lutz is a five-tool player who has the potential to be a star. He only played in 26 games last season, but he hit .308 with 4 home runs and 13 RBIs. He’s expected to be a key player in UT’s lineup this season.

4. Ryan Reynolds – A Senior pitcher, Reynolds was UT’s best starter last season, going 9-4 with a 3.51 ERA. He’ll once again be counted on to anchor the Longhorns’ rotation, and he has the potential to be one of the best pitchers in the country.

5. Nolan Kingham – A Junior pitcher, Kingham went 8-5 with a 3.86 ERA last season and was named second-team All-Big 12. He’ll once again be one of UT’s top starters, and he has the stuff to be a future Major League Baseball player.

The UT Baseball team is gearing up for another exciting season, and there are a few pitchers that fans should keep an eye on.

First is redshirt senior Brandon Workman. Workman has been a stalwart on the team for the past few years, and he’s expected to be a key player again this season. He’s a workhorse who can eat up innings, and he’s got great control of his pitches.

Next is junior Kyle Johnston. Johnston came on strong towards the end of last season, and he’s expected to be even better this year. He’s got a great fastball and good off-speed pitches that can keep hitters guessing.

The University of Texas Baseball team’s name and logo for the 2019 season was inspired by the school’s sports history and culture. The name, “Longhorns,” was chosen because of the animal’s association with Texas and the university. The logo, a silhouette of a longhorn steer, was created to represent the team’s strength, determination and Texas pride.

The UT Baseball Roster is set and we now know who will be suiting up for the Longhorns this season. There are a few new faces on the team, but the core group of players remains intact. Here’s a preview of what to expect from the 2019 UT baseball team

The pitching staff is led by junior right-hander Bryce Elder who was named the Big 12 Preseason Pitcher of the Year. Elder posted a 7-4 record with a 3.35 ERA in 2018 and is expected to be one of the top pitchers in the conference again this season. Fellow right-hander Blaine Knight is also back after a solid 2018 campaign in which he went 9-3 with a 3.28 ERA. The Longhorns will also have left-hander Nick Lodolo, who was drafted 41st overall by the Cincinnati Reds in last year’s MLB Draft but decided to return to school for his junior season.

The offense will be highlighted by senior first baseman Kody Clemens, who was named the Big 12 Preseason Player of the Year. Clemens hit .351 with 21 Home Runs and 69 RBIs last season and is one of the best power hitters in the conference. Sophomore third baseman Zach Zubia should also be a key contributor after hitting .298 with 10 home runs as a freshman. The Longhorns will also have Junior College transfer Masen Hibbeler manning center field. Hibbeler hit . 429 with nine home runs and 46 RBIs at Orange Coast College last season and should provide a spark at the top of the lineup.
