How the UTSA Baseball Team will fare this season- a predictions

The UTSA Roadrunners baseball team is set to begin their season on the road against the Houston Cougars on February 15. The ‘Runners will look to improve on their 27-29 record from last year in which they went 12-12 in conference play Here is a game-by-game predictions for how UTSA will do this season.

The first series of the year is always a tricky one. The ‘Runners will have to face a Houston team that went 41-19 last year and made it all the way to the NCAA tournament But, UTSA has faced Houston nine times in program history and have won five of those games. I’m going to give the edge to UTSA and say they win two out of three games in the opening series.

UTSA’s next series is against conference foe Louisiana Tech The Bulldogs had a down year last season, finishing 23-32 overall and just 9-15 in conference play But, Louisiana Tech always seems to give UTSA fits and they have won 17 of the 25 games played between the two programs. I think Louisiana Tech wins two out of three against UTSA in this one.

After that, things start to get really tough for UTSA. They have a road trip to Fayetteville, Arkansas where they will take on the Arkansas Razorbacks who are coming off a 46-win season in which they made it all the way to Super Regionals Then, they come back home for a three game set against Florida Atlantic who won 42 games last year and made it to the NCAA Tournament regional semifinals. I think UTSA goes 0-6 in these six games against some of the best teams in Conference USA

Fortunately for UTSA, they will get a break in the schedule after that as they travel to take on struggling Old Dominion(19-41 last year) and then come home for a series against Conference USA bottom dweller UAB (18-39 last year). I think UTSA bounces back and goes 4-2 in these six games.

Then, it’s back on the road for another tough stretch as they travel to face Southern Miss(35-24 last year) and then come home for conference power Rice(42-16 last year). I think UTSA goes 1-5 in these six games as well.

UTSA then comes home for eight straight home games against Marshall, WKU, Middle Tennessee Charlotte and FIU . This is whereUTSA will have to make their move if they want any chance at making the Conference USA tournament . I thinkUTSAdoes just enoughto go 6-2 in these eightgamesand put themselves back into contentionfor atournament berthwith just afewweeks lefttoseason
