The Men’s Basketball Team’s History

The Men’s Basketball team at Widener University has a long and successful history. The team has been to the NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Tournament multiple times and has won several conference championships The team is currently coached by Chris Cleaver and plays its home games in the Alumni Memorial Field House.

The Team’s Schedule

Widener will open up their season with an exhibition game against Eastern University on Sunday, November 10th at 4pm. The regular season will start on Tuesday, November 12th when Widener hosts Misericordia University for a 7pm matchup.

The Team’s Coaches

Widener’s Men’s basketball team is coached by Chris Carlino, who is in his fourth season. Carlino has led the team to two conference championships and two NCAA tournament appearances. Prior to coaching Widener, Carlino was an Assistant Coach at La Salle University and Cabrini College. He played collegiately at La Salle University.

Joining Coach Carlino on the sidelines is assistant coach AJ Diggs, who is in his second season with the team. Diggs played four years of collegiate basketball at Rutgers-Camden, where he was a two-time all-conference selection. He has also worked as a basketball skills trainer and coach for youth teams in the Philadelphia area.

The Widener University men’s basketball team’s fans are some of the most passionate in all of college basketball They are known for their creative chants and their loud support of the team throughout the game. They often travel to away games to support the team, and they always bring a great energy to the arena.

The Team’s Home Court

Widener University’s men’s basketball team is a NCAA Division III team that competes in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC). The team’s home court is theCore FIELDHOUSE, which opened in 2017 and has a capacity of 1,600. The FIELDHOUSE is located on campus in Chester, Pennsylvania.

The Team’s Rivals

Widener University’s Men’s basketball team is full of passionate athletes that love to compete. A big part of their drive to win comes from the desire to defeat their rivals. The team has three main rivals: Alvernia University Cabrini University and Eastern University.

Alvernia University is Widener’s biggest rival. The two teams play each other every year in what is known as the “Battle of the Golden Wolves.” Alvernia leads the overall series 19-16, but Widener won the most recent meeting 84-77.

Cabrini University is another one of Widener’s rivals. The two teams have played each other 37 times, with Cabrini leading the overall series 23-14. However, Widener has won four out of the last five meetings between the two squads.

Eastern University rounds out Widener’s main rivals. The two teams have met 54 times, with Eastern leading the all-time series 32-22. Eastern has had recent success against Widener, winning eight out of the last ten meetings between the two clubs.
