The team got its start back in the early days of baseball, when the game was first gaining popularity in the United States The original Yard Goats were a Minor League Baseball team that played in the Eastern League The team was founded in 1883, and they played their first game on April 25, 1883. The Yard Goats were one of the most successful teams in minor league baseball history, winning 11 league championships during their time in the Eastern League

The team’s name comes from a nickname for early baseball players who were paid very little money. These player often had to hold down jobs Side of Baseball to make ends meet. The manager

The manager of the Hartford Yard Goats is David Dearborn. He is in his fourth season with the team and his seventh season as a Minor League manager. Prior to joining the Yard Goats, he served as the manager of the Tri-City ValleyCats, the Houston Astros’ Class A affiliate. He has also managed in the Boston Red Sox and Chicago Cubs organizations.

The season

After an eventful and, at times, trying first season in Hartford, the Yard Goats return for their second season at Dunkin’ Donuts Park. The 2017 campaign was a success on and off the field, as the team shattered numerous attendance records and won the Eastern League Championship

This season, the Yard Goats will look to build on that success as they aim to defend their title. The team has made a number of changes in the offseason, most notably bringing in manager Jerry Weinstein. Weinstein is a highly respected figure in baseball, and his experience will be invaluable to a young team.

The Yard Goats will also be bolstered by the return of some Key Players from last season. Pitchers Shaun Anderson and Ryan Castellani both had strong seasons in 2017, and they will be leading the charge for the pitching staff this year. Infielder Brendan Rodgers is also back for another season, and he will be looking to build on his impressive campaign from last year.
