YVCC Women’s Basketball Roster

The Yakima Valley Community College women’s basketball team has released its roster and schedule for the upcoming season The team will consist of 12 players, including three returners from last year’s squad.

The Yaks will open their season on November 1 with a Home game against Bellevue College. Their first road game will be on November 8 at Wenatchee Valley College.

YVCC Men’s Basketball Schedule

The Yakima Valley Community College Men’s Basketball team plays in the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC). The conference is made up of two divisions, the North and the East. The YVCC Men’s basketball team is a part of the East Division.

TheMen’s Basketball team has a schedule that includes games against teams from all over the state of Washington. The schedule is subject to change, so please check back often for updates.

YVCC Men’s Basketball Results

The Yakima Valley Community College men’s basketball team defeated Bellevue College 87-64 on Tuesday night at Sammie Davis Gymnasium. With the win, the Yaks improve to 5-0 on the season and 3-0 in conference play

Bellevue got off to a quick start, taking an early 8-2 lead in the first four minutes of the game. But Yakima Valley responded with a 12-3 run to take a 14-11 lead with 12:37 left in the first half. The Bulldogs regained the lead briefly at 16-14, but the Yaks went on a 13-5 run to take a 27-21 lead with 7:21 left in the half. Bellevue rallied to tie the game at 30, but Yakima Valley ended the half on an 11-4 run to take a 41-34 lead into halftime.

In the second half, Bellevue got within four points at 43-39 two minutes into the half, but Yakima Valley answered with an 11-2 run capped off by a three from Isaiah Gonzales to take a 54-41 lead with 15:09 left in the game. The Yaks would extend their lead to 18 points at 67-49 on another Gonzales three with 10:22 left in the game and cruised to their fifth straight win to start the season.

YVCC Women’s Basketball Results

The Yakima Valley Community College women’s basketball team defeated conference rival Walla Walla Community College on Wednesday night by a score of 68-56. This victory brings the Yaks’ conference record to 3-1 and their overall record to 12-4.

The Yaks were led by sophomore guard Jazmine Idlebird, who scored 23 points on 8-of-15 shooting, including 4-of-8 from three-point range Idlebird also added four assists and three steals in the victory. Freshman forward Katelyn Sherwood was also in double figures for the Yaks, scoring 11 points and pulling down a team-high eight rebounds.

The Yaks will be back in action on Saturday, January 12th when they travel to Kennewick to take on Columbia Basin College. That game is scheduled to tip off at 2:00 PM.

YVCC Men’s Basketball News

The Yakima Valley men’s basketball team will start their season with a home game against Bellevue College on Tuesday, November 5th. Game Times this season are set for 5:30 PM on Tuesday and Thursday nights, and 3:00 PM on Saturdays.

The team welcomes back four sophomores from last year’s squad that finished 19-9 overall and placed second in the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) East Region with a 9-5 conference record. Key returners include last year’s East Region Defensive Player of the Year, Demetrius Trammell (6-5, G/F), as well as Everett Community College transfer, Undray Brooks (6-2, G).

The Yakima Valley Community College women’s Basketball team is in the midst of their season and off to a great start. The team has a current record of 16-3 and are 7-1 in conference play They have shown great improvement from last year’s season and are excited to see what the remainder of the season holds.
