The team won back-to-back NBA championships in 1994 and 1995, led by Hakeem Olajuwon, Clyde Drexler Otis Thorpe and head coach Rudy Tomjanovich. After winning their second title, several players from the championship team were traded away and the team entered into a rebuilding period. The following seasons were marked by missed playoffs and lottery appearances.
