NHL Standings Who’s on Top?

The NHL regular season is nearing its end, and the playoff race is heating up. With just a few weeks left to play, here’s a look at the current standings and who’s in position to make a run at the Stanley Cup

In the Eastern Conference the Tampa Bay Lightning are comfortably in first place with 113 points, but Boston Bruins are close behind with 105 points. The Toronto Maple Leafs (98 points), Pittsburgh Penguins (94 points), and Nashville Predators (93 points) round out the top five. In the Western Conference it’s a tight race at the top, with the Calgary Flames holding a slim lead over the San Jose Sharks The Winnipeg Jets Vegas Golden Knights and Dallas Stars are all within striking distance of first place.

The NHL playoffs will begin on April 10th and will feature 16 teams: eight from the Eastern Conference and eight from the Western Conference The top three teams in each division will automatically qualify for the playoffs, while the remaining two spots in each conference will be determined by wild-card berths. The Top 3 NHL Teams

As of December 31st, 2018, the top 3 NHL Teams are the Tampa Bay Lightning Nashville Predators and Boston Bruins These teams have been dominating the NHL so far this season and look like they will continue to do so.

The Bottom 3 NHL Teams

As the 2018-19 NHL season comes to a close, there are a few teams that are already out of playoff contention and will be looking to next year to try and get back into thefight. Here is a look at the bottom three teams in the standings as of March 1st, 2019.

The Ottawa Senators currently sit in last place in the NHL with a record of 25-34-5. They have 55 points and are 31 points out of a playoff spot. The Senators have been plagued by injuries this season, including to their top two goalies, Craig Anderson and Anders Nilsson. They have also had trouble scoring goals averaging just 2.47 goals per game which is 28th in the league.

The Colorado Avalanche are 27-29-12 with 66 points, which has them 29th in the standings. They are currently on a four-game losing streak and have gone just 8-18-6 since December 1st. Like the Senators, the Avalanche have also had trouble scoring goals this season, averaging just 2.56 per game, which is 26th in the NHL.

The Arizona Coyotes are 28-31-8 with 64 points, good for 28th in the standings. They are currently seven points out of a playoff spot and have gone just 7-19-4 since December 1st. The Coyotes started the season well but have really struggled since then. One bright spot for them has been rookie defenseman Jakob Chychrun, who has been one of their best players this season.

The Middle of the Pack

In the National Hockey League there are 31 teams currently in the 18-19 season These teams are all fighting for a chance to make it to the Stanley Cup playoffs However, only 16 of these teams will make it to the playoffs. As of now, it is still early in the season and there are a few teams that are in the middle of the pack. These teams have a chance to make it to the playoffs, but they need to step up their game if they want to compete with the top teams in the league.

The first team in the middle of the pack is the Colorado Avalanche. The Avalanche are currently sixth in the Central Division with a record of 12-8-2. They have 26 points and are only four points behind the first place team, the Nashville Predators The Avalanche have been playing better as of late and they have a chance to make a push for the playoffs.

Another team in the middle of the pack is the Anaheim Ducks The Ducks are currently seventh in the Pacific Division with a record of 11-9-4. They have 26 points and are only six points behind
the first place team,the Calgary Flames The Ducks need to start winning more games if they want to make the playoffs.

The last team in the middle ofthe pack isthe Philadelphia Flyers. The Flyers are currently sixth in thee Metropolitan Division with a record of 11-10-2. What’s Changed Since Last Year?

As the 2018-19 NHL season winds down, it’s time to take a look at how the standings have changed since last year.

In the Eastern Conference the Tampa Bay Lightning are still on top, but the Boston Bruins have closed the gap somewhat, and the Toronto Maple Leafs and Florida Panthers are both within striking distance. The Lightning have been bolstered by strong performances from goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy and forwards Nikita Kucherov and Steven Stamkos.

In the Western Conference the Nashville Predators are still on top, but the Winnipeg Jets and Vegas Golden Knights have both made significant jumps in the standings. The Predators have been led by goalie Pekka Rinne and forwards Filip Forsberg and Viktor Arvidsson.

The defending Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals are currently in second place in the Metropolitan Division. They are followed by the Pittsburgh Penguins Carolina Hurricanes and New York Islanders The Capitals have been getting strong performances from forwards Alex Ovechkin and Evgeny Kuznetsov, as well as goalie Braden Holtby.

Who’s on the Rise?

It’s early in the season, but a few teams are already making a move up the standings. The Tampa Bay Lightning Nashville Predators and Winnipeg Jets are all off to hot starts, and each team looks like a Stanley Cup contender.

The Lightning are led by superstar forward Steven Stamkos, who is already in mid-season form with 13 goals and 28 points in just 20 games. Stamkos is one of the best goal-scorers in the league, and he’s helped the Lightning to an impressive 16-4-0 record.

The Predators have been one of the best teams in the league over the past few seasons, and they’re off to another great start this year. Nashville is led by defenseman Roman Josi, who has been an absolute force on both ends of the ice. Josi has eight goals and 23 points in 20 games, and he’s been a big reason why the Predators have gotten off to a 16-5-0 start.

The Jets are another team that looks like a legit Stanley Cup contender. Winnipeg is led by Mark Scheifele, who is currently second in the league in scoring with 15 goals and 32 points in 21 games. The Jets have also gotten great play from goalie Connor Hellebuyck, who has posted a .933 save percentage and a 2.21 GAA so far this season.

Who’s Falling Behind?

As of March 5, 2019, the Tampa Bay Lightning are leading the way in the NHL standings with 113 points. The Lightning are followed by the Calgary Flames (107 points), San Jose Sharks (105 points), and the Winnipeg Jets (104 points). Of these four teams, only the Sharks have clinched a playoff spot so far. The other three teams are all vying for position in the standings and could still end up anywhere from first to fourth place when the regular season comes to an end.

Meanwhile, at the bottom of the standings, the Ottawa Senators continue to struggle, sitting in last place with just 49 points. The Senators are followed by the Detroit Red Wings (53 points), Los Angeles Kings (58 points), and New Jersey Devils (60 points). Of these four teams, only the Devils have a chance at making the playoffs however, they would need to win nearly all of their remaining games and get some help from other teams in order to make it into the postseason.

What to Expect in the Second Half

It’s been an eventful first half of the NHL season with plenty of ups and downs for all 31 teams. The Tampa Bay Lightning have been the class of the league, holding a comfortable lead in the standings, while the Ottawa Senators and Los Angeles Kings are at the bottom fighting for last place.

Looking ahead to the second half of the season, there are a few things to keep an eye on:

-Will the Lightning continue to dominate? They’ve been head and shoulders above the rest of the league so far, but it will be interesting to see if they can keep it up.

-Which teams will make a push for the playoffs? There are a number of teams sitting on the bubble right now, including the Montreal Canadiens Dallas Stars, and Columbus Blue Jackets It should be a tight race down the stretch.

-Who will win the individual awards? There are a number of great candidates for MVP (most valuable player), including Nikita Kucherov of the Lightning, Patrick Kane of the Chicago Blackhawks and Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers It should be an exciting race to watch.

Predictions for the Rest of the Season

It’s been an eventful season thus far in the NHL, with plenty of surprises and breakout performances. As we approach the halfway point, who is currently in position to make a run at the Stanley Cup?

At the top of the standings are the Tampa Bay Lightning who have been the best team in the league all season long They’re led by superstar Nikita Kucherov, who is currently on pace for over 130 points. The Bolts also have an excellent goalkeeper in Andrei Vasilevskiy, who has been one of the best netminders in the league over the past few years. Tampa Bay looks like they’re poised to make a deep run in the playoffs this year.

The Nashville Predators are another team that looks like a contender for the Cup. They’re led by defenseman Roman Josi, who is having an outstanding season offensively, and goaltender Pekka Rinne, who has been one of the best goalies in the league for several years now. The Preds also have a deep and talented lineup, which should help them compete with any team in the league come playoff time.

The Winnipeg Jets are another team to keep an eye on this season. They boast one of the best offenses in hockey, led by forwards Mark Scheifele and Blake Wheeler. They also have a Vezina Trophy caliber goaltender in Connor Hellebuyck, who has been one of the best goalies in hockey over the past few years. If they can put it all together, they could be a tough out come playoff time.
