Morehead State basketball has released its non-conference schedule for the upcoming season The Eagles will play 11 games against teams from seven different conferences, including five games against teams that made the NCAA tournament last season.

“We are excited about the challenges this non-conference schedule will present,” said Morehead State Head Coach Preston Spradlin. “We have a mix of local rivals, tough road games and some really good teams coming to our place. We can’t wait to get started.”

Morehead State’s non-conference schedule includes home games against Belmont (Nov. 6), Liberty (Nov. 10), Coppin State (Nov. 17) and Wright State (Dec. 1). The Eagles will also host IUPUI (Dec. 3) and Florida Gulf Coast (Dec. 29) as part of the Continental Tire Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic.

On the road, Morehead State will face Louisville (Nov. 12), Dayton (Nov. 20), Xavier (Dec. 8) and Cincinnati (Dec. 21). The Eagles will also travel to Nashville to take on Lipscomb (Dec. 15) and Virginia Tech (Dec. 22).

The Eagles will face a tough slate of opponents

The Morehead State University men’s basketball team will face a tough slate of opponents during the non-conference portion of the 2019-20 schedule, which was released on Wednesday.

MSU will open the season at home against UNC Asheville on Nov. 5, before hitting the road for games at Purdue (Nov. 8), Cincinnati (Nov. 12) and Louisville (Nov. 15). The Eagles will also play host to Wright State (Nov. 22), Appalachian State (Dec. 4), Northern Kentucky (Dec. 7) and Morgan State (Dec. 17) during the non-conference slate.

“We’re excited about the opportunity to play some really good teams early in the season,” said MSU head coach Preston Spradlin. “It will be a great test for our guys and we’re looking forward to the challenge.”

MSU will open Ohio Valley Conference play on Dec. 31 when it travels to Murray State The Eagles will also have OVC road games at Tennessee Tech (Jan. 4), Austin Peay (Jan. 11), Belmont (Jan 18) and Eastern Kentucky (Feb 8). MSU’s home conference games include: SIUE (Jan 3), Southeast Missouri (Jan 7), Jacksonville State (Jan 25), Tennessee State (Feb 1) and Eastern Illinois (Feb 22).

Morehead State will travel to Louisville and Kentucky

Morehead State will travel to Louisville and then host Kentucky as part of its non-conference men’s Basketball Schedule

The Eagles will open the season at Louisville on Nov. 10 and then have a week off before hosting Midway on Nov. 17. Morehead State will play five of its first seven games at home, which also includes a visit from in-state rival Eastern Kentucky on Nov. 27.

“We are excited about our non-conference schedule,” said Morehead State Head Coach Sean Woods. “It gives our young team a chance to play some great teams early in the season.”

Morehead State’s game at Louisville will be the first meeting between the two schools since 2015. The Eagles and Cardinals have played four times since Morehead State joined Division I in 1982, with Louisville winning all four contests.

The game against Kentucky will be the first meeting between the two schools since 2013, when the Wildcats won 93-54 in Lexington. Kentucky leads the all-time series 135-22, but Morehead State did win two of the three meetings between 2002 and 2013.

The Eagles will host Xavier and Cincinnati

Morehead State Basketball has released its non-conference schedule, which features home games against Xavier and Cincinnati.

The Eagles will open the season at home against Campbellsville on Nov. 6, followed by a road game at Louisville on Nov. 10. Morehead State will then host Xavier on Nov. 13 and Cincinnati on Nov. 17, before heading to Miami (Ohio) for a game on Nov. 20.

Additional non-conference opponents include Eastern Kentucky (Nov. 23), Austin Peay (Nov. 26), Northern Kentucky (Dec. 1), Marshall (Dec. 4), Southeast Missouri State (Dec. 8), Robert Morris (Dec. 15), Toledo (Dec. 18) and Stetson (Dec. 21).

MSU’s conference schedule will be released at a later date by the Ohio Valley Conference office.

Morehead State will face a tough road test at Dayton

The Morehead State men’s Basketball team will face a tough road test at Dayton on Tuesday, Dec. 18 as part of its non-conference schedule, which was released on Wednesday morning.

Morehead State will also travel to play at Louisville on Saturday, Nov. 17 as part of the 2K Empire Classic benefiting Wounded Warrior Project. The Eagles will face either Pittsburgh or Texas Tech in the Opening Round on Nov. 15 or 16 in New York City with the final round being played at Madison Square Garden on Nov. 21 or 22.

The Eagles will close out the non-conference schedule at home against Northern Kentucky

The Eagles will close out the non-conference schedule at home against Northern Kentucky on December 29th. The game will tip off at 7 p.m. and will be televised on ESPNU.

Morehead State will open conference play on the road at Belmont

Morehead State will open its 2018-19 men’s Basketball season with a pair of exhibition games at Johnson Arena. The Eagles will take on Pikeville on Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. re Playing host to Bluefield College on Nov. 2 at 7 p.m.

MSU will then open the regular season by playing four of its first five games on the road, beginning with a Nov. 6 contest at Belmont. The Bruins are coming off a 27-6 season that saw them capture the Ohio Valley Conference regular season and tournament championships before falling to Murray State in the semifinals of the 2018 NCAA Tournament

The Eagles will open the season on the road against Butler on November 5th. They will then have a home game against Wright State on November 8th. Other notable games include a road game at Louisville on December 3rd and a home game against Kentucky Wesleyan on December 29th.

Morehead State will be looking to make a run in the OVC tournament after finishing last season with a record of 17-15.
