In the world of basketball, a crossover is when a player dribbles the ball between their legs or around their back in order to change directions and/or confuse their defender. When done successfully, it can be a thing of beauty. Here are the top 5 crossovers from the NBA this year.
5. Russell Westbrook vs. Tyus Jones

3. James Harden vs. Wesley Johnson
Houston Rockets superstar James Harden has become known for his ability to break defenders’ ankles with his handles, and he did just that against Wesley Johnson of the Los Angeles Clippers. What makes this crossover even more impressive is that Harden does it while falling down!
2. Derrick Rose vs. Reggie Jackson
This play happened early in the season, but it was so impressive that it still warrants mention here. On this possession, Detroit Pistons guard Derrick Rose fake passed to one of his teammates before putting the ball through his legs and finishing with a left-handed layup over Reggie Jackson of the Pistons. The craftiness and coordination involved here are top-notch.
1. Steph Curry vs. Kyrie Irving
And finally, we have what might just be the greatest crossover in NBA history (at least until someone else tops it). In this play from a game between Curry’s Golden State Warriors and Irving’s Celtics, Curry utilizes a behind-the-back move followed by a between-the-legs crossover to freeze Irving in his tracks before finishing with a layup hampered by some contact from Irving. This is an incredible display of ball-handling wizardry from one of the greatest shooters of all time!
