Delgado Community College has had a long tradition of success in baseball. The team has won 7 NJCAA Division I National Championships and has sent over 200 players to play professional baseball This year looks to be another successful season with a strong team, led by several Key Players Here are 5 games you won’t want to miss this season:

March 3 vs. Itawamba CC
This will be the team’s opening game of the season and it will be a good chance to see how the team looks early on.

March 10-11 vs. East Mississippi CC
This will be a good test for the team as they take on one of the best teams in the nation. East Mississippi is currently ranked No. 1 in the NJCAA poll.

April 7 vs. Baton Rouge CC
This is always one of the biggest games of the season as Delgado takes on its biggest rival. The teams have been evenly matched over the last few years, with each team winning 3 out of the last 6 meetings.

May 12-13 vs. Mississippi Gulf Coast CC
This could be a preview of the Region 23 Tournament Championship game as these are two of the best teams in the region. Delgado has won 3 out of 4 meetings between these two teams over the last two seasons.

May 19-20 vs Hinds CC

There are a few returning players who are sure to be standouts, as well as some new recruits who are eager to make a name for themselves. Here are the players to Watch This Season

Returning Players

-Infielder/Outfielder Joshua Cruz was named First Team All-Region XXIII last year after batting .341 with 9 home runs and 43 RBIs. He is one of the team’s most experienced players and will be counted on to provide leadership both on and off the field.

-Pitcher Jacob St. Germain was also named First Team All-Region XXIII after going 8-3 with a 3.18 ERA in 2018. He will once again anchor the pitching staff and will look to build on his successful freshman campaign.

New Recruits

-Outfielder Jared Boudreaux is a local product from Archbishop Rummel High School He was a three-year starter in high school and hit .351 with 5 home runs and 23 RBIs as a senior. He has the potential to be an immediate contributor for the team.

-Pitcher/Infielder Dylan Rogers comes to Delgado from Baton Rouge Community College where he was named Second Team All-Conference last year. He batted .333 with 2 home runs and 22 RBIs while also going 5-1 on the mound with a 3.86 ERA. Rogers adds much needed depth to both the pitching staff and infield.

The Playoffs

It’s been an exciting season for the Delgado Dolphins, and it’s about to get even better. The playoffs are just around the corner, and here are some games you won’t want to miss.

The first Playoff Game is against the Baton Rouge Bears on October 16th. This is sure to be a tough match-up, but the Dolphins are determined to make it to the next round.

On October 23rd, they take on the New Orleans Pelicans in what is sure to be an intense game. The Pelicans are one of the top teams in the league, but the Dolphins are ready to take them on.

The Delgado Baseball Team has a long and successful history. The team has won numerous championships, including back-to-back NJCAA Division I National Championships in 2016 and 2017. The team is currently ranked No. 1 in the nation by the National junior college Athletic Association (NJCAA).

Some of the team’s most notable wins include a 5-0 victory over then-No. 1 Chipola College in the 2017 NJCAA Division I National Championship game, and a 9-1 win over No. 2 San Jacinto College North in the 2016 NJCAA Division I National Championship game.

**March 8 vs. Crowder College** – The season opener for the Delgado baseball team will be a rematch of last year’s NJCAA Division I World Series game against Crowder College The Chargers will be looking to avenge their 3-2 loss to the Pilots in that game.

**March 22-24 vs. Gulf Coast State College** – These three games against Gulf Coast State will be important for Delgado as they look to defend their conference title from last season. The Commodores finished second in the conference behind Delgado last year, and they will no doubt be looking to take down the defending champions this season.
