Nebraska Wesleyan Baseball has been a tradition of excellence for over 100 years. The program has produced numerous Major League Baseball players, including two-time World Series champion and current Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell. Nebraska Wesleyan has also been home to many great collegiate players, such as Roger Clemens who went on to have a Hall of Fame career in the Major Leagues

This tradition of excellence has continued into the 21st century, as Nebraska Wesleyan has won nine conference championships in the last 15 years. The program has also made seven appearances in the NCAA Division III World Series including a runner-up finish in 2004.

With a rich history and a bright future Nebraska Wesleyan Baseball is a program that continues to build on its tradition of excellence.

The Nebraska Wesleyan Baseball Program has a long and rich tradition of success. The Prairie Wolves have won 27 conference championships, including 13 in the last 20 years, and have made 12 NCAA Division III World Series appearances. Nebraska Wesleyan has produced 142 All-Americans, eight Academic All-Americans, two College World Series Most Outstanding Players and four MLB Draft picks.

The Prairie Wolves have won a record 19 conference championships

Nebraska Wesleyan University’s baseball team the Prairie Wolves, have a long tradition of excellence. They’ve won a record 19 conference championships, appeared in 11 NCAA Division III College World Series and have had 34 players drafted by Major League Baseball teams. The Prairie Wolves have also produced two MLB All-Stars: Alex Gordon and Joba Chamberlain.

Nebraska Wesleyan has made 27 appearances in the NCAA Division III World Series

Since the Nebraska Wesleyan Baseball program’s inception in 1902, the team has enjoyed a rich tradition of success. The Prairie Wolves have made 27 appearances in the NCAA Division III World Series winning six National Championships (1989, 1990, 1994, 1999, 2000, 2004). In addition, Nebraska Wesleyan has won 25 conference championships and produced numerous All-Americans and professional baseball players

The Prairie Wolves play their home games at Sears Field, located on the Nebraska Wesleyan campus in Lincoln. Sears Field is widely regarded as one of the finest collegiate baseball facilities in the country and has hosted numerous regional and Super Regional tournaments over the years.

Since Nebraska Wesleyan University’s baseball program began in 1902, the Prairie Wolves have produced 31 All-Americans, nine Major League Baseball players, and countless memories.

The Prairie Wolves have a rich tradition of success on the diamond, winning 15 conference championships and making 12 appearances in the NCAA Division III College World Series In 1998, Wesleyan won the Division III National Championship

Wesleyan has had 31 players named to All-American teams, including first Team selections Mike Fiore (1985), Tom Olson (1991), Jon Stamets (1995), Steve Spencer (1998), and Nate Janzen (2001). Nine former Prairie Wolves have gone on to play major league baseball including Cy Young Award winner Mike Flanagan

Nebraska Wesleyan has had four players inducted into the college baseball Hall of Fame

Nebraska Wesleyan has had four players inducted into the college baseball Hall of Fame more than any other school in the Midwest. The school’s first inductee was George Sisler in 1939. Sisler, who played for the team from 1915 to 1917, is considered one of the best all-around players in baseball history He was a two-time batting champion and set a then-MLB record with 257 hits in 1920. He also held the single-season hits record with 230 until Ichiro Suzuki broke it in 2004.

Other Nebraska Wesleyan inductees include Bob Feller (1962), who is widely considered one of the greatest pitchers of all time; Lou Brock (1985), who holds the MLB record for most stolen bases in a career; and Roger Maris (1998), who hit 61 home runs in 1961 to break Babe Ruth’s single-season record.

Nebraska Wesleyan Baseball has a long and storied tradition of excellence, producing some of the best collegiate players in the nation. The Prairie Wolves have had four players win the DIII Player of the Year Award most recently Outfielder Nate Johnson in 2019.

Other recent honors include First Baseman Kyle Koopman winning the 2018 DIII Defensive Player of the Year Award and Head Coach Steve Johnson being named the ABCA Midwest Region Coach of the Year in 2017.

Under Coach Johnson’s leadership, Nebraska Wesleyan has won four conference championships and made five appearances in the NCAA tournament The Prairie Wolves have also had 27 players named to All-American teams in the past decade.
