As a sophomore, he went 9-2 with a 0.81 ERA and 113 strikeouts in 74 innings pitched. He was named the Conference Player of the Year and was also named a First Team All-American by perfect game USA.
As a junior, Burleson posted an 11-0 record with a 0.78 ERA and 124 strikeouts in 75 innings pitched. He was again named the Conference Player of the Year and was also named a First Team All-American by perfect game USA and Baseball America

He was drafted in the 33rd round of the 2017 MLB draft by the Milwaukee Brewers He made his professional debut with the rookie-level Helena Brewers. In 2018, he played for both the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers and the Carolina Mudcats. He played for Helena and Wisconsin again in 2019.
Burleson was traded to the Boston Red Sox organization in 2020 and was assigned to the Worcester Redd Sox.
