Alma Baseball Schedule Games to Catch This Season
Alma College has released its baseball schedule for the upcoming season The team will play a total of 30 games, with 17 of those being conference matchups.
The Scots will open their season with a three-game series against Rhodes College on February 15-17. Alma will then play host to Wabash College for a three-game set on February 22-24.
Conference play will begin on March 8, when Alma travels to face Adrian College The Scots will also have conference series against Olivet College Kalamazoo College, Trine University and Albion College
Alma will wrap up its regular season at home against Hope College on May 10-12. The Michigan Collegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) tournament is scheduled for May 17-19 at the site of the regular season champion.

Alma Baseball has been on the rise in recent years becoming a team to watch in the Mid-American Conference. This season is shaping up to be another competitive one, with several key games that fans won’t want to miss.

Alma Baseball’s Key Players to Watch This Season
With the 2019 Alma college baseball season just underway, fans are eager to see how the team will perform. Alma entered the season ranked third in the MIAA preseason poll and is coming off a campaign in which they went 27-14 overall and 16-8 in conference play The Scots have high hopes for this season and will look to their key players to help them achieve their goals.
Some of the Key Players to Watch This Season include junior pitcher Derek Beougher, senior infielder/outfielder Nate Grys, junior infielder/outfielder Brandon Cooper, and senior catcher/infielder Andrew Knapp. Beougher is coming off a strong 2018 campaign in which he posted a 6-1 record with a 2.48 ERA and was named MIAA Pitcher of the Year. Grys is Alma’s top returning hitter after batting .338 with five home runs and 33 RBIs last season. Cooper is also a key returnee after hitting .304 with four homers and 31 RBIs in 2018. Knapp will be counted on to provide leadership behind the plate after hitting .253 with four homers and 25 RBIs last year.

Alma Baseball has developed a strong farm system in recent years and there are several top prospects that fans should keep an eye on. Here are some of the team’s best prospects:
1. Juan Soto – OF: Soto is a five-tool player who has the potential to be a middle-of-the-lineup bat. He’s also a good defender with a strong arm.
2. Luis Garcia – SS: Garcia is a slick-fielding shortstop with good range. He’s also a capable hitter with some power potential.
3. Jackson Rutledge – RHP: Rutledge is a big, physical right-hander with a plus fastball and an impressive slider. He has the potential to be a frontline starter at the MLB level.
4. Brennan Malone – RHP: Malone is another right-hander with a plus fastball and a good curveball. He has the potential to be a solid middle-of-the-rotation starter at the MLB level.
5. Victor Robles – OF: Robles is an elite athlete with five-tool potential. He’s also an outstanding defender in center field.
Alma Baseball: A History of Success
Alma College’s baseball team has a long tradition of winning, dating back to its first season in 1884. The Scots have captured 27 Michigan Collegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) championships, most recently in 2017, and have made nine NCAA Division III tournament appearances. Head Coach Steve Lyon has led Alma to 10 MIAA titles and six NCAA tournament berths during his tenure.

Alma Baseball: A Preview of This Season
This year, the Alma College Baseball Team is looking to make a return to the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) tournament after falling just short last season. The Scots finished the Regular Season with a 19–17 overall record and a 12–9 mark in MIAA games, good for fourth place in the Conference Standings Alma will open its 2019 campaign on February 23 with a three-game series against Defiance College in Ohio. The Scots will play their home opener on March 5 against North Central College (Ill.).
