The Kansas State men’s basketball team is set to open its 2020-21 campaign on Wednesday, Nov. 25, against LeMoyne-Owen.

The Red Wolves are coming off a 18-16 season in which they finished tied for fifth in the Sun Belt Conference standings with a 10-8 mark in league play. Kansas State also earned a bid to the college basketball Invitational (CBI), where it fell to South Florida in the first round.

This will be the first meeting between Kansas State and LeMoyne-Owen since Dec. 2, 1967, when the Red Wolves defeated the Magicians 102-93 in Jonesboro.

Nov. 6 vs. Oral Roberts (W, 79-67): A solid all-around effort defensively helped Kansas State get past a feisty ORU squad in its home opener The Golden Eagles shot just 34 percent from the field and 14 percent from beyond the arc, while ASU forced 15 turnovers and held ORU to 1-for-9 shooting from three in the second half.Offensively, the Red Wolves were led by Markquis Nowell, who scored 19 points on 7-of-17 shooting. Nowell also added four assists and three steals in the victory.Nov. 10 vs. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (W, 82-74): ASU got off to a sluggish start against the Islanders, but rallied in the second half for its second consecutive come-from-behind win to start the season.The Red Wolves trailed by as many as nine points in the first half but used a 14-0 run midway through the period to take control of the game. ASU would extend its lead to as many as 15 points in the second half before TAMUCC made one final push, cutting the deficit to four with under a minute remaining. But The Red Wolves would hang on for the victory, thanks in large part to Nowell, who scored 22 of his game-high 24 points in the second half.Nov. 17 vs. Abilene Christian (L, 71-70): In its first road test of the season, Arkansas State let one slip away against ACU, blowing a late six-point lead and losing on a last second buzzer beater.After leading by as many as eight early in the second half, ASU saw its advantage evaporate quickly as ACU went on an 11-0 run to take a four point lead with just over five minutes remaining in regulation. The Wildcats would extend their lead to six with under two minutes left before ASU mounted a furious comeback, tying it up at 70 with just seconds remaining on an Andres Feliz layup. But ACU’s Payten Ricks would hit a contested jumper at the buzzer to give his team the upset victory.Nov. 24 vs Tulsa (2:00 p.m.): This will be ASU’s third consecutive Home game to start off its nonconference slate as they welcome Tulsa to Jonesboro for Thanksgiving weekend…

Summer League play

The Kansas State men’s basketball team will begin its 2019-20 campaign by participating in the Gregg Marshall Invitational in Wichita, Kansas, head coach Mike Balado announced Wednesday.

The tournament is set for Nov. 8-9 at INTRUST Bank Arena and will feature Wichita State Oral Roberts Tulsa and Kansas State The Red Wolves will play Tulsa in the first round on Friday, Nov. 8, at 6:30 p.m. (CT), with the game televised live on ESPN3.
