Avila University

Avila University is a private, co-educational university in Kansas City Missouri, United States founded in 1916. The university is affiliated with the Catholic Church and offers undergraduate and graduate programs.

Women’s Basketball

Avila University Women’s Basketball is a team that represents Avila University in Avila, Missouri, in the NCAA Division II. The team has been a member of the NCAA since 1978, when it joined the Division II ranks. The team plays its home games at Mabee Center, and is currently coached by Lindsey Martinez.

Avila Eagles

The Avila University women’s Basketball team is a collegiate Basketball Program representing Avila University in Kansas City Missouri, United States The team currently competes in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Division I level, as a member of the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC).[1] The Eagles have been coached by Head Coach Steve Fritz since the 2009 season and play their home games at Mabee Arena.

NCAA Division II

The Avila University women’s basketball team competes as a NCAA Division II independent. The Eagles are currently coached by Matt Mitchell who took over the program in 2020.

Kansas City Intercollegiate Athletic Conference

The Kansas City collegiate athletic conference is a collegiate athletic conference affiliated with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. Member schools are located in the midwestern United States mostly in Missouri. The conference was founded in 1922 and is currently composed of twelve schools. Avila University, located in Kansas City Missouri, has been a member of the KCIAC since 1989. The KCIAC sponsors intercollegiate competition in baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball and tennis.

Head Coach

Avila University is currently seeking a dynamic and engage head coach for our Women’s Basketball Program This is a full-time, 10-month position with benefits that reports directly to the Athletic Director. The Head Coach will be responsible for all aspects of the Women’s Basketball Program including but not limited to: recruiting, skill development, practices, game preparation, scouting opponents, film analysis, budget management, player development and community engagement.

Assistant Coaches

The Avila University women’s Basketball team is currently looking for two assistant coaches The ideal candidate will have experience coaching at the collegiate or professional level, and will be able to demonstrate a commitment to the development of student-athletes both on and off the court.

Players

The Avila University women’s basketball team is composed of 12 student athletes who hail from 8 states across the nation. From Florida to Illinois, and all points in between, these young women have made their way to Kansas City to pursue their academic and athletic dreams.
