The Royals are ranked second in the latest National Association of Basketball Coaches Division III poll, released Monday. It’s the highest ranking ever for a Bethel team in any sport.

The Royals (23-1, 13-1 MIAC) have won 15 games in a row and are coming off a 92-86 victory at No. 8 St. Thomas on Saturday. Bethel has already clinched a share of the MIAC regular-season title and can win the outright title with a victory at home Wednesday against Concordia (10-14, 5-9).

Bethel is one of three teams from Minnesota ranked in this week’s NABC poll. St. Thomas (22-2, 12-2) is No. 6 and Augsburg (19-5, 10-4) is receiving votes.

The Royals (15-1 overall, 8-0 MIAC) maintained their spot from last week’s poll after defeating St. Olaf and Macalester on the road last week. Bethel has now won 11 consecutive games and is off to its best start in program history.

This is the fourth straight week that Bethel has been ranked in the top five of the NABC poll. The Royals debuted at No. 5 on Jan. 2 and have since climbed to No. 3 (Jan. 9) and No. 2 (Jan. 16).
