He was a three-time All-Star and won a Gold Glove Award in 2000. In 2004, he was named American League Manager of the Year after leading the Angels to their first ever World Series Championship.

Under Erstad’s leadership, the Carthage Baseball Team has continued to be one of the best in Division III In 2018, the team won its 12th conference title and made its 11th appearance in the NCAA Division III World Series.
