Pitcher Jack Kucek is the ace of the staff. A first-team All-American, Kucek was named the conference Pitcher of the Year. He leads the team in wins, ERA, and strikeouts.

Catcher Matt Radwanski is also a first-team All-American. A two-time conference Defensive Player of the Year, Radwanski is one of the best defensive catchers in the country. He’s also a dangerous hitter, batting .308 with 10 home runs

First baseman Eddie Smith is another conference Defensive Player of the Year. A two-time All-American, Smith is one of the best power hitters in program history. He holds the career records for Home Runs and RBIs.

Second baseman Nate Spicer is a four-year starter and three-time All-American. A two-time conference Player of the Year, Spicer is one of the most decorated players in program history. He’s a career .331 hitter with 49 career stolen bases

Shortstop Tyler Wixted is a three-time All-American and two-time conference defensive player of the Year. One of the best defensive infielders in the country, Wixted has also been a key contributor at the plate, batting .302 with 31 career stolen bases.

The Cleveland State University baseball team has been a powerhouse in Division I Baseball for years. The team has won numerous conference championships and made multiple trips to the NCAA tournament The team is also stocked with some of the best young talent in the country.

In recent years the team has seen a number of its players drafted by Major League Baseball teams. In 2018, three CSU players were selected in the MLB Draft including first round pick Brady Aiken. Aiken, a left-handed pitcher, was the only player from a Ohio school to be drafted in the first round that year.

The CSU Baseball Team is also known for its rigorous academic standards. In order to be eligible to play for the team, players must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. As a result, many of CSU’s baseball players are also standouts in the classroom.

As the official start of the college baseball season rapidly approaches, interested fans may want to know which players to keep an eye on. From power hitters to reliable starting pitchers, the following list includes some of the best players currently on the CWRU Baseball Roster

Catcher Josh Stowers is a key player both offensively and defensively. During his sophomore season he batted .333 with eight home runs 32 RBIs, and a Slugging percentage of .600. He was also named a 2018 Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Preseason All-American.

David Starn is another junior who will be looking to have a big year offensively. In 2018 he was second on the team in batting average (.349) and hits (74), while also leading the way with 16 stolen bases.

The pitching staff will be anchored by seniors Connor Uselton and Alec Olivier. Uselton had a breakout year in 2018, earning Second Team All-Region honors after posting a 9-1 record with a 2.48 ERA in 13 starts. Olivier, meanwhile, has been a consistent starter throughout his collegiate career, compiling a 19-7 record and 3.66 ERA in 39 appearances (31 starts).

The CWRU Baseball team is one of the most successful in Division III The team has won over fifty percent of its games, including thirty or more wins in a season thirteen times. In 2019, the team had an incredible run in the NCAA Division III tournament, finishing as the national runner-up.

The team is made up of some of the best players in Division III baseball In 2019, three players from the team were named to the D3baseball.com All-America team. In 2018, five players from the team were named to the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All-America team.
