Introduction

The CWU Basketball team is a Division III team in the NCAA. The team is located in Ellensburg, WA and plays its home games at Nicholson Pavilion.

The team is coached by Brendan Westendorf, who is in his first season as Head Coach The team’s 2016-2017 record was 15-12 overall and 12-6 in conference play The 2017-2018 schedule has not been released yet.

The team’s leading scorer from last season, Tyler Huisman, graduated in 2017. Huisman averaged 15 points per game last season. The returning leading scorer is Elijah Hanson, who averaged 11 points per game last season.

The Team

The CWU men’s basketball team is composed of 12 players, all of whom are pursuing a Bachelor’s degree at CWU. The team’s head coach is Craig McAndrews, who is entering his 5th season with the team. Under his leadership, the team has made it to the NCAA Division II National Championships three times.

The team’s captain is senior guard Jordan Hull, who is from Tacoma, WA. Hull has been with the team for all four years of his eligibility and has been an important part of the team’s success. Other key members of the team include junior forward Michael Lynch, who is from Seattle, WA, and sophomore guard Kendall Arthur, who is from Yakima, WA.

The CWU men’s Basketball team has a long history of success, dating back to its first season in 1957. The team has won 14 conference championships and made it to the NCAA Division II National Championships 11 times.

The Venue

The Seattle University rivalry is not as intense, but the Wildcats have had some recent success against the Redhawks, which has made the games more competitive.

The Championships

In order to win the championship, the team must have the best record out of all teams in their conference. To receive an at-large bid, a team must have one of the best records out of all teams in the nation. If a team has a poor record, they will not be invited to either tournament. The conference tournament is a single-elimination tournament that is made up of all the teams in a given conference.
