Dixie State men’s basketball announced its 2020-21 schedule Thursday, which includes 27 games, highlighted by 15 home contests inside the Burns Arena at the Dixie State University Trailblazer Athletic Complex.
Dixie State basketball announces 2020-21 schedule
The Dixie State men’s basketball team has announced its 2020-21 schedule, highlighted by 11 home games and a total of 28 contests against Division I, II and III opponents. The Trailblazers will play their home games at the Burns Arena on the campus of Dixie State University
Dixie State will open the season with an exhibition game against Angelo State on November 6th, followed by the regular season opener against UC Davis on November 10th. The Trailblazers will then host Division II opponent Simon Fraser on November 13th before hitting the road for a five-game road trip
Dixie State to face tough competition in 2020-21
The Dixie State men’s Basketball team will face some stiff competition in the 2020-21 season as the Trailblazers look to defend their Western Athletic conference title
The schedule features 18 conference games and a tough non-conference slate that includes games against Pac-12 opponents Arizona State and Washington State
The season will begin on November 25 with a Home game against San Diego Christian The Trailblazers will then hit the road for a three-game swing through the Pacific Northwest, starting with a December 2 matchup at Washington State
Dixie State will open WAC play at home on December 31 against Grand Canyon The Conference Schedule features home-and-home series against all seven other WAC teams, as well as a single game against each of the three new members of the league (California Baptist New Mexico State and UT Rio Grande Valley).
The Trailblazers will close out the regular season at home on March 6 against UTSA before heading to Las Vegas for the 2021 WAC Basketball Tournament
Dixie State looks to build on success in 2020-21
The Dixie State men’s basketball team will look to build on its success from last season when it opens the 2020-21 campaign on Nov. 25 against Menlo at the Burns Arena. The Trailblazers are coming off a historic 2019-20 season in which they won their first ever Division I game, defeating UTEP 85-71 in El Paso, Texas. Dixie State also won its first ever Western Athletic Conference game, topping Seattle U 77-74 in overtime.
Dixie State returns several Key Players from last season
The Dixie State men’s Basketball team will enter the 2020-21 season with several key players returning from last year’s squad that went 25-7 overall and won the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Regular Season title with a 16-2 mark. Leading the way for the Trailblazers will be All-RMAC First Team selection and last year’s leading scorer, junior guard Mason Sawyer.
Sawyer, who averaged 16.1 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game in his first season with Dixie State, will be joined in the backcourt by fellow junior guard Brayden Furst, who averaged 9.4 points per contest last year. The Trailblazers will also have plenty of experience in the frontcourt as senior forward Stephen Schroeder (11.6 ppg, 5.9 rpg) and junior forward Zach Johnson (7.5 ppg, 3.5 rpg) return for their second seasons in St. George after transferring from Idaho State and Seattle respectively.
Dixie State has high expectations for 2020-21 season
The Dixie State University men’s basketball team will face a challenging non-conference schedule as it prepares for its first season as a member of the NCAA Division I Western athletic conference
The Trailblazers, who are coming off back-to-back seasons with 20-plus wins, will play a total of 12 games against seven different opponents from six different states.
Highlighting the non-conference slate is a road trip to play Pac-12 member Arizona State on Dec. 12. It will mark the first time Dixie State has ever faced a Pac-12 team in men’s basketball.
Other road games include contests at UTEP (Nov. 25), Montana (Dec. 2), Weber State (Dec. 19) and Northern Arizona (Dec. 28).
The Trailblazers will also host BYU on Nov. 11 in their home opener re Playing host to Chicago State on Nov. 15 in the final game of the season-opening homestand. Other home games include contests against Idaho State (Nov. 21), Grand Canyon (Dec. 31) and Sacramento State (Jan. 7).
Dixie State to host several big games in 2020-21
After a successful 2019-20 campaign in which the Dixie State women’s basketball team won a program-record 26 games and advanced to the NCAA Division II West Region semifinals, the Trailblazers are looking to make more noise on the court during the upcoming 2020-21 season.
Dixie State will open its season at home for the first time since 2015 when it hosts Azusa Pacific on Nov. 25 at 6 p.m. The Trailblazers will then welcome CSU San Bernardino (Nov. 27), Point Loma (Dec. 1) and Concordia-Irvine (Dec. 4) to the Burns Arena before hitting the road for five of their next six games, including a matchup with defending NCAA Division II National Champion Northwest Missouri State on Dec. 19 in Maryville, Mo.
Dixie State hopes to make a run in the 2020-21 postseason
The Dixie State men’s basketball team announced their 2020-21 schedule on Wednesday, which includes non-conference home games against Air Force Montana State and Weber State
The Trailblazers will open the season at home on November 25th against Life Pacific before hitting the road for games at San Diego (November 27th) and Air Force (December 1st). Dixie State will then host Montana State (December 4th) and Weber State (December 8th) before closing out the non-conference portion of the schedule with four straight road games.
Dixie State will open conference play on January 2nd at Tarleton State before returning home to host Western New Mexico on January 7th. The Trailblazers will then hit the road for games at Angelo State (January 9th), UT Permian Basin (January 16th), Midwestern State (January 21st) and Eastern New Mexico (January 23rd).
Dixie State will close out the regular season with four straight Home Games beginning with a February 4th matchup against Cameron before hosting West Texas A&M on February 6th. The Trailblazers will then host Texas Woman’s (February 11th) and Eastern New Mexico (February 13th) to close out the Regular Season
Dixie State has a tough road ahead in 2020-21
Dixie State will face some tough competition in the 2020-21 season, with games against Power Five conference opponents Utah and BYU. The Trailblazers will also play a difficult non-conference schedule which includes games against Gonzaga, Weber State and Cal State Fullerton
Dixie State’s first game of the season will be on November 25th, against Utah. The Trailblazers will then play BYU on December 5th. Other notable games include a road trip to Gonzaga on December 12th, and home games against Weber State on January 2nd and Cal State Fullerton on January 16th.

The Dixie State men’s basketball team will be put to the test early and often during the 2020-21 season as the Trailblazers released their schedule on Wednesday.
Dixie State will open up the season on Nov. 25 at home against Simon Fraser before hitting the road for five of its next six games. The Trailblazers’ road swing will take them to conference foes Western Oregon (Dec. 2), Saint Martin’s (Dec. 4), Seattle Pacific (Dec. 9), Alaska Anchorage (Dec. 11) and Montana State Billings (Dec. 18).
After returning home for a pair of games against Point Loma (Dec. 30) and Concordia-Irvine (Jan. 1), Dixie State will once again hit the road for four straight, this time taking on Azusa Pacific (Jan. 6), Biola (Jan. 8), Academy of Art (Jan. 13) and California Baptist (Jan. 15).

The Trailblazers will open the season on November 25th with a road game against defending national champion Baylor. Dixie State will then take on Oklahoma, Iowa State and Purdue before returning home to host BYU on December 12th.
The non-conference schedule also features games against UTEP, Weber State, and Utah Valley. Dixie State will begin conference play on January 2nd with a game at Grand Canyon
