The Drexel Dragons men’s basketball team represents Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Dragons compete in the NCAA Division I as a member of the Colonial Athletic Association. The Dragons play at the Daskalakis Athletic Center They are currently coached by Zach Spiker.

Drexel’s Starting Five
Drexel’s men’s Basketball team is led by a starting five that features some of the best young talent in the country. Here’s a look at who’s who on the Dragons’ roster:
Furkan Korkmaz: A freshman guard from Turkey, Korkmaz is considered one of the top international prospects in the class of 2016. He’s a streaky scorer with deep range on his jump shot and he’s also an excellent ball-handler and playmaker.
Sami Zayn: A sophomore forward from Tunisia, Zayn is one of the best all-around players on the team. He’s a workhorse on both ends of the court, and he has a knack for coming up with big plays in big moments.
Austin Williams: A junior guard from Philadelphia, Williams is one of the Dragons’ most experienced players. He’s a dangerous shooter from beyond the arc, and he’s also a very good defender.
Tough-minded and competitive, Williams is a leader on and off the court.
Tariq Owens: A freshman forward from Brooklyn, Owens is one of the most athletic players on the team. He’s an explosive leaper who blocks a lot of shots, and he also has a developing offensive game.
Owens is still learning how to play at this level, but he has all the tools to be a great player in time.
Drexel’s Bench Players
Drexel’s bench players are a key part of the team’s success. Here’s a quick look at who they are and what they bring to the table.
– Forward Sammy Mojica is a strong rebounder and defender who provides a spark when he enters the game.
– Guard/forward Kurk Lee is a versatile player who can score, rebound, and defend. He’s also a good three-point shooter.
– Guard Troy Harper is another versatile player who can score, shoot threes, and defend. He’s been coming on strong lately and is a key part of the team’s rotation.
– Center Austin Williams is a big body who provides rebounding and defense off the bench.
Drexel’s Injured Players
Heading into the 2020-2021 Season Drexel has several players nursing injuries. redshirt junior guard Mate Okros (Achilles) is the most notable name on the list, as he is still recovering from an Achilles injury suffered last season. Junior guard Jimmy Butler (elbow) is also injured, as is sophomore forward Zach Walton (back).
Drexel’s Coaching Staff
The Drexel Dragons men’s Basketball Program is coached by Zach Spiker. He is assisted by Anthony Latina, Micah Wright, and T.J. Cochran. The Head Coach of the Drexel Dragons is Zach Spiker. He was hired on April 9, 2015, after five seasons as the head coach at Army.
Spiker is a native of Glenmoore, Pennsylvania and played college basketball at Elizabethtown College, where he was a four-year starter and captained the team as a senior. He began his coaching career as an assistant at Swarthmore College before stops at La Salle University and Cornell University Spiker was an Assistant Coach under Fran Dunphy at Temple University from 2006 to 2009, before becoming Head Coach at Army in 2010.
Under Spiker, the Dragons have compiled a 59–59 record through four seasons. The Dragons made their first postseason appearance in 12 years when they defeated Northeastern in the first round of the 2019 CIT before losing to Florida Gulf Coast in the second round.
Drexel’s Schedule
Drexel’s Men’s basketball team has a lot of fresh talent this season. Here is a look at the team’s schedule.
Drexel will start their season off at home against Urbana on November 6th. They will then have a string of away games, including one against St. Joseph’s on November 10th. After that, they will return home to take on Lafayette on November 17th.
December will be a busy month for Drexel, as they will have 11 games. This includes match-ups against some tough teams, like Villanova and Syracuse. The team will end their December schedule with a game at home against Towson on December 29th.
The Dragons will start off 2020 by traveling to James Madison on January 2nd. They will have a few more away games before returning home to play George Mason on January 17th. The rest of their schedule includes games against Delaware, Hofstra, Northeastern, and more.

What a season it was for the Dragons! They put together a fantastic 26-8 record, good enough for second place in the Colonial Athletic Association. Head coach Zach Spiker did an excellent job in his first year at the helm, and he’ll look to build on that success next season. Let’s take a look at the players who made it all possible.
Drexel’s Standings
Drexel Dragons basketball is off to a slow start in the 2020-2021 season. They have a record of 4-8 and are currently tied for seventh place in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). Last year, the Dragons finished the season with a record of 15-15 overall and 10-8 in conference play They lost in the first round of the CAA tournament to eventual champion Hofstra.
This season, Drexel is led by senior guard Camren Wynter, who is averaging 16.4 points, 4.7 assists, and 3.2 rebounds per game Wynter is joined in the backcourt by junior guard Trevor John, who is averaging 11.2 points and 2.9 rebounds per game In the frontcourt, Drexel has junior forward James Butler and sophomore forward Mate Okros. Butler is averaging 11.3 points and 5.6 rebounds per game, while Okros is averaging 9.5 points and 3.7 rebounds per game.
The Dragons have struggled on both ends of the court this season and will need to improve if they want to make a run at the CAA title.

-Senior guard Tavon Allen is second on the team in scoring, averaging 11 points per game He’s also a good shooter, connecting on 41 percent of his three-point attempts.
-Junior guard/forward Rodney Williams is third on the team in scoring, averaging 10 points per game He’s also averaging five rebounds and four assists per game
-Sophomore guard Kameron Williams is fourth on the team in scoring, averaging nine points per game He’s also shooting 45 percent from three-point range
-Freshman guard Sammy Mojica is fifth on the team in scoring, averaging eight points per game He’s also shooting 42 percent from three-point range.
Drexel’s Highlights
Drexel University’s men’s basketball team is set to have an exciting season. Here are some of the team’s highlights.
Drexel’s leading scorer from last season, Damion Lee, returns for his senior year. He will be joined by fellow seniors Tavon Allen and Rodney Williams. Lee is a dynamic player who can score from anywhere on the court. He will be counted on to provide leadership for the Dragons this season.
Junior guard Kurk Lee is another player to watch. He is a talented scorer and playmaker who has the ability to take over a game. He will be looked to as a key contributor on both ends of the court.
Redshirt sophomore Sammy Mojica is another player who could make an impact this season. He is a versatile player who can score, rebound, and play defense Mojica will be looking to make an impact after sitting out last season due to injury.
The Dragons will also have several new players who will be looking to make their mark this season. Freshmen Troy Harrell and Austin Williams are two players who could see significant playing time this season. They are both talented scorers with the ability to stretch the floor with their shooting. Sophomore transfer Freddie Wilson is another player to watch. He is a physical guard who can provide some much-needed toughness on the defensive end of the court.
