“I think it’s just amazing what he’s done with the program,” said Dr. Cardone. “When he first took over, we had no idea what to expect. But he’s built it into one of the best programs in West Virginia ”

Another big supporter of Glenville State Girls Basketball is John Marshall high school Head Coach Mark Bates. Bates has coached against Coach Lazor many times, and has always been impressed with his team’s success.

“Jerry does a great job with his team,” said Bates. “They are always well-prepared and they play hard every night.”

The support for Glenville State girls basketball extends beyond the community, as well. The team has many fans across West Virginia and their games are always well-attended. Coach Lazor credits this to the team’s success on the court, as well as their good character off of it.

“Our girls have worked hard to build a winning tradition ” said Lazor. “But more importantly, they are good people who represent our school and our community in a positive way.”
