In the world of college baseball there are many ways to rank the best teams. The most common are won-loss record, Strength of Schedule RPI, and various computer rankings. Below is a brief description of each.

Won-loss record is the simplest method and is self-explanatory. However, it doesn’t take into account who a team plays or where they play their games. For example, a team that plays all its games at home will have a better won-loss record than a team that plays all its games on the road.

Strength of schedule takes into account who a team plays and where they play their games. It is more complicated than won-loss record but gives a better indication of how good a team actually is.

RPI stands for Ratings Percentage Index and is used by the NCAA to help select teams for the NCAA Tournament and to seed the tournament. It is also used by some conferences to help select teams for their conference tournament The RPI is calculated using a team’s winning percentage, its opponents’ winning percentage, and its opponents’ opponents’ winning percentage.

Various computer ranking systems are also used to rank teams. These systems use different formulas but all attempt to rank teams based on how strong they are relative to other teams.

With so many teams in contention, every game is important and there can be a lot of movement in the standings from week to week. Here is a look at the current standings and what teams are on top.

1) University of Michigan Dearborn: The Wolverines have been on top of the Gliac for most of the season and they look like they are going to run away with the conference title. They have been playing well lately and they have the talent to make a run at the conference title. If they can get hot at the right time, they could make things very interesting down the stretch.

4) Wayne State University: The Warriors are currently fourth in the Gliac, but they are only a few games out of first place.
