The Grand Canyon Antelopes men’s basketball team has had 3 head coaches in its short history. Dan Majerle was the first coach hired to lead the Antelopes and was at the helm from 2013 to 2016. He was succeeded by former Dallas Mavericks Head Coach and Grand Canyon alum, Jamal Perkins. Perkins was let go after only two seasons and Assistant Coach Matt Figger was promoted to head coach in April of 2018.

In just its fifth season of existence, the GCU men’s Basketball team made its first appearance in the postseason, qualifying for the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament (CIT) in 2017 under Head Coach Dan Majerle. The Antelopes made history again in 2018, becoming just the second program ever to appear in back-to-back CITs in their first two eligible seasons, joining fellow WCC member Saint Mary’s College (now known as SMC Gaels).
