Long Beach State men’s Basketball team has racked up another win, this time against the UC Riverside Highlanders With a score of 69-59, the Beach improves to 13-7 on the season and 4-2 in conference play
The game was a defensive battle from the start, with both teams shooting below 40 percent from the field in the first half. Long Beach State was able to gain a slight edge thanks to their Three-point shooting making five of their eight attempts from beyond the arc.
In the second half, the Beach continued to rely on their outside shooting, going 7-of-15 from three-point range They also did a better job of crashing the glass, outrebounding UC Riverside by nine in the second half.
Leading the way for Long Beach State was senior guard Mike Caffey, who finished with 17 points and four assists. He was joined in double figures by freshman forward Gabe Levin (12 points) and junior guard Tyler Lamb (11 points).
The win keeps Long Beach State firmly in contention for an NCAA tournament berth. They will look to continue their winning ways when they take on Cal Poly on Saturday night.

The Long Beach State men’s Basketball team won its third game in a row Saturday, defeating the University of San Diego 67-60. The 49ers are now 10-7 on the season and 3-0 in Big West Conference play.
The game was close throughout, with neither team leading by more than six points. Long Beach State took the lead for good with just over six minutes to play and held off a late charge by San Diego

The win was the first for Long Beach State against San Diego in three years. The 49ers will look to extend their winning streak when they host UC Davis on Wednesday night.
