As the season comes to a close, Lsu Baseball has had an incredible year. They finished the regular season with a record of 45-16, good for first place in the SEC. They are currently ranked No. 2 in the nation and are considered one of the favorites to win the College World Series

As they prepare for their post-season run, LSU is also preparing for next year’s recruiting class They have already secured commitments from some of the top prospects in the country, but there are still a few that they are hoping to land. Here is a look at some of the top prospects for LSU baseball in 2019:

1. Matthew Liberatore – Liberatore is a left-handed pitcher from Arizona who is widely considered to be one of the top pitching prospects in the country. He has a fastball that sits in the mid-90s and a sharp curveball that has been described as ” mesmerizing.” He has already been named Gatorade National Player of the Year and is expected to be a high first-round pick in next year’s MLB Draft

2. Bobby Witt Jr. – Witt is a shortstop from Colleyville, Texas who is considered one of the best hitters in this year’s class. He has an advanced approach at the plate and could potentially be an end-of-the order hitter with power potential down the road. Witt is expected to be a high first-round pick as well and could potentially go higher than Liberatore depending on how teams value pitchers versus Position players

3 . JT Ginn – Ginn is another pitcher from Mississippi who rounds out what many consider to be one of the best 1-2 punches in this year’s class alongside Liberatore. Ginn throws his fastball in the upper 90s and also has a plus slider that should make him an effective strikeout pitcher at the next level. He too is expected to be a high first-round pick next June.

4 . Rece Hinds – Hinds is an outfield prospect from Sarasota, Florida who has plus power potential thanks to his 6’4″ frame and quick bat speed His power hasn’t quite translated into game action yet, but he has all of the tools necessary to become a middle-of-the order hitter down the road. Hinds is committed to LSU but could opt to go pro if he hears his name called early on draft day next year.

5 . Cade Cavalli – Cavalli rounds out this list as another pitching prospect from Oklahoma who has seen his stock rise rapidly over the past year thanks to his electric fastball that sits comfortably in the mid 90s with plenty of room for further velocity gains as he continues to fill out his 6’4″ frame . Cavalli also throws a plus slider and should develop into at least a solid No. 2 starter if everything clicks for him developmentally . He too is committed to LSU but like Hinds , could opt for pro ball if he goes early enough on draft day .

Gavin Dugas, OF: Dugas is a 6-foot-1, 185-pound outfielder from Catholic high school in Baton Rouge Louisiana. He is ranked as the No. 38 overall prospect in the country and the No. 4 prospect in Louisiana by perfect game Dugas has committed to play baseball at LSU.

He also has good power at the plate and should be able to hit for average as he develops.

Nolan Gorman – Gorman is a five-star third baseman from Phoenix, AZ. He is ranked as the No. 1 third baseman and No. 12 overall prospect in the 2019 class by Perfect Game Gorman has a very powerful bat and should be able to hit for both power and average at the next level. He has good speed for a corner outfielder, which would make him a nice fit in left field for LSU.
