The Coaching Staff is dedicated to helping these student-athletes reach their full potential as players and as people.

The Coaches
###Head Coach John Moore
John Moore enters his 8th season as the Head Men’s basketball coach at Menlo College. In his 7 seasons at the helm, Coach Moore has compiled a 116-85 (.579) overall record, including an impressive 73-43 (.629) mark in conference play Under his leadership, the Oaks have qualified for the conference tournament in each of the last six seasons, including a trip to the semifinals in 2014. In 2012-13, Menlo finished with a 19-11 overall record and reached the final game of the CCCAA NorCal Regional Playoffs. The Oaks have also produced 17 All-Conference selections and one Conference Player of the Year during Moore’s tenure.

####Jay Van Vark
Jay Van Vark enters his first season as an Assistant Coach for the Menlo College men’s Basketball team Coach Van Vark comes to Menlo after serving as an assistant coach at San Mateo High School for the past two seasons. Prior to that, he was an assistant coach at Hillsdale high school for three years. Coach Van Vark has also been very active in AAU Basketball having coached teams on both the West and East coasts over the past 10 years. A native of Palo Alto CA, Van Vark graduated from Hillsdale high school in 2003 and went on to play four years of college basketball at CSU Monterey Bay. He graduated from CSUMB in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
####Ryan DeLongpre
Ryan DeLongpre is entering his sixth season as an assistant coach for Menlo College men’s basketball team and his second as Assistant head coach In his five seasons with Head Coach John Moore, DeLongpre has helped lead Menlo to a 116-85 (.579) overall record, including 73-43 (.629) in conference play The Oaks have made six straight trips to the conference tournament under their leadership and qualified for the CCCAA NorCal Regional Playoffs four times. In 2012-13, DeLongpre helped guide Menlo to a 19-11 overall record and a semifinal appearance in the CCCAA NorCal Regional Playoffs where they eventually fell to eventual state champion San Francisco City College. Prior to joining Moore’s staff at Menlo, DeLongpre spent two seasons (2008-10) as an assistant coach at CSU Monterey Bay where he helped lead the Otters to back-to-back 20+ win seasons and trips to the NCAA Division II West Region Playoffs

The College Basketball season culminates with the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship more commonly known as the NCAA tournament The tournament is a single-elimination event that features 68 teams from across the country, all vying for a chance to win the National Championship
The first four games of the tournament are referred to as the “play-in” games, and they pit the lowest-seeded teams against each other in order to earn a spot in the main 64-team bracket. From there, it’s a free-for-all until only two teams remain.
The Final Four, as it’s come to be known, is always held on the first weekend in April and features the four remaining teams. The two winners of those games advance to the National Championship game, which is played on Monday Night after the Final Four.
This year’s tournament will take place from March 18th to April 6th, with the Final Four being held in Atlanta, Georgia.
