NSU mens Basketball team earns NCAA Tournament bid
The Nova Southeastern men’s basketball team has been selected to participate in the NCAA Division II tournament. The Sharks will be the No. 8 seed in the Southeast Region and will take on top-seeded Lincoln Memorial in the first round on March 15.
This is the second time in program history that NSU has made the NCAA tournament and the first time since 2015. The Sharks are 18-11 overall this season and finished second in the Sunshine State Conference with a 12-6 record.
NSU is led by senior guard Devin Hester, who was named the SSC Player of the Year. Hester is averaging 19.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game

The Sharks (23-6), who are seeded fifth in the South Region, will face off against No. 12 West Alabama (22-8) in the first round on Saturday, March 17 at 12 p.m. ET.

Head coach Jim Crutchfield added: “We are extremely excited to be representing Nova Southeastern University and Shark Nation in the NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Tournament This has been a goal of ours since we started the program six years ago, and we are very proud to be the first NSU team to make the NCAA tournament ”
The Sharks are coming off a 72-71 loss to Florida Southern in the Sunshine State conference tournament semifinals. They have won four of their last five games overall.
West Alabama finished as runner-up in the Gulf South conference tournament losing to Delta State 77-74 in overtime in the Championship game The Tigers have won eight of their last nine games overall.

“Our guys have worked extremely hard to put us in this position,” he said. “I’m really happy for them and proud of what they have accomplished. We are looking forward to representing NSU and the South Region in the NCAA Tournament ”

Nova Southeastern is making its sixth overall appearance in the NCAA Tournament and first since 2015. The Sharks are 3-5 all-time in the tournament, with their last win coming in the first round of the 2014 tournament when they defeated Alabama-Huntsville 85-77.
