Q: Patrick, you were born and raised in Toronto. What was it like growing up there and how did you become interested in basketball?
A: Yeah, I was born in Toronto and I lived there until I was 12. It was a great city to grow up in. There’s a lot of diversity and there’s always something to do. As far as basketball goes, I started playing when I was really young. My dad played professionally overseas so he introduced me to the game. I fell in love with it pretty quickly and I’ve been playing ever since.
Q: You moved to the United States to play high school basketball at Oak Hill Academy What was that transition like?
A: It was definitely a big adjustment moving here. Basketball is really different in the States. The competition is a lot tougher and everyone takes it a lot more seriously. But I’ve loved it here. It’s been a great experience playing against some of the best players in the country every day in practice and games. And my teammates have been great too. We’ve become really close over the last few years.
Q: You’re one of the top recruits in the country right now. What do you think has made you such a successful player?
A: I think my work ethic is definitely one of my biggest strengths as a player. I’ve always worked hard to improve my game and get better every day. And I think my versatility is another big strength. I feel like I can play multiple positions on the court and that makes me valuable to any team.
Q: You have offers from some of the biggest colleges in the country right now – Duke, Kentucky, North Carolina etc.. What are you looking for in a college? What factors are you considering?
A: Yeah, it’s been really surreal getting all these offers from such prestigious programs. It’s still early in the process but I definitely have some ideas about what I’m looking for in a college
