Why the 2019 NBA Draft needs to be redrafted
The 2019 NBA Draft was one of the most talked about and anticipated drafts in years. But now, just a few short months later, many are already calling for a redraft. There are a number of reasons why the draft needs to be redone, but the most pressing is the fact that several Key Players have already been injured.
Zion Williamson the number one overall pick, is perhaps the most notable casualty. He suffered a Knee Injury during Summer League play and is expected to miss six to eight weeks. Other Top Picks like RJ Barret (knockout) and Darius Garland (torn meniscus) have also been sidelined with injuries.
In addition to the rash of injuries, there are also questions about whether some of the top prospects were properly evaluated. Ja Morant, for example, was drafted second overall but many feel he should have gone first. And there are already rumors that some teams regret passing on certain players.
It’s still early, but it’s clear that there are problems with the 2019 NBA draft A redraft would give us a chance to right some of those wrongs and see how these players would stack up against each other in a healthy setting.

The biggest risers in the 2019 NBA Draft
Since the end of the college Basketball season there have been a Number of players who have seen their draft stock rise. Here are some of the biggest risers in the 2019 NBA Draft
-RJ Barrett: Barrett was one of the best players in college basketball this past season, averaging 22.6 points, 7.6 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game He has shown that he has the potential to be a star at the next level and is now being seen as a potential top-five pick in the draft.

-Nassir Little: Little was one of the most productive players in College Basketball this past season, averaging 16.8 points and 9.3 rebounds per game He has shown that he has the potential to be a very good player at the next level and is now being seen as a potential lottery pick in the draft.
The biggest fallers in the 2019 NBA Draft
One of the most interesting aspects of the NBA Draft is watching which players unexpectedly rise and fall on draft night. While there are always a few prospects who shoot up or slide down draft boards on the night of the draft, the 2019 NBA Draft had more than its fair share of both risers and fallers. In this article, we’ll take a look at some of the biggest fallers in the 2019 NBA draft
Ayo Dosunmu, SG, Illinois
Dosunmu was widely projected to be a first-round pick in the 2019 NBA draft but he ultimately went undrafted. He has good size for a shooting guard at 6’5″ and is an excellent scorer, averaging 16.6 points per game as a sophomore at Illinois. Dosunmu’s lack of elite athleticism likely hurt his draft stock, as did his decision to return to Illinois for his junior season instead of declaring for the 2018 NBA Draft
Ty Jerome, PG, Virginia
Like Dosunmu, Jerome was also widely projected to be a first-round pick in the 2019 NBA Draft but ultimately went undrafted. He’s an excellent shooter and playmaker who averaged 13.6 points, 5.5 assists, and 4.2 rebounds per game as a junior at Virginia. Jerome’s lack of elite athleticism likely caused him to slide down draft boards on draft night.
Carsen Edwards, PG/SG, Purdue
Edwards was one of the best scorers in College Basketball during his final two seasons at Purdue, averaging 19.2 points per game as a sophomore and 23.4 points per game as a junior. However, Edwards’ size (he’s listed at just 6’0″) and lack of elite athleticism caused him to slide down draft boards on draft night. He ended up being drafted 33rd overall by the Boston Celtics in the second round of the 2019 NBA Draft

The worst players available in the 2019 NBA Draft
In the 2019 NBA Draft there were a number of players who were drafted who are not expected to have much of an impact in the league. Here is a look at some of the worst players who were available in the draft:
--Marvin Bagley III A highly-touted player coming out of college, Bagley has not lived up to expectations so far in his young career. He has struggled with injuries and has not been able to develop into the player many thought he would be.
-Mohamed Bamba: Another player who was hyped up coming into the league, Bamba has not been able to make much of an impact for the Orlando Magic He has shown some flashes of potential, but he has yet to put it all together and become a consistent player.
--Collin Sexton Sexton was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers with the 8th overall pick in the 2018 NBA draft He was expected to be a key piece in their rebuild, but he has failed to live up to expectations thus far. He is averaging just 14 points per game while shooting under 40% from the field.
--Michael Porter Jr.: Porter Jr. was considered one of the best players in his class coming out of High School but he fell all the way to 14th overall in the 2018 NBA draft due to injury concerns. He missed all of his rookie season due to injury and has only played in three games so far this season.
The biggest reach in the 2019 NBA Draft
The 2019 NBA Draft will go down as one of the most interesting and confusing in recent memory. With so many players projected to go in the lottery, there were bound to be some reaches. These are the five biggest reaches in the 2019 NBA Draft
1. Zion Williamson (No. 1 overall, New Orleans Pelicans)
2. RJ Barrett (No. 3 overall, New York Knicks)
3. Darius Garland (No. 5 overall, Cleveland Cavaliers)
4. Coby White (No. 7 overall, Chicago Bulls)
5. Jaxson Hayes (No. 8 overall, Atlanta Hawks)
The biggest steal in the 2019 NBA Draft
The biggest steal in the 2019 NBA Draft was Zion Williamson who was taken number one overall by the New Orleans Pelicans Williamson was widely considered to be the best player in the draft, and some even said he was the best player in the world.
The Pelicans took a chance on Williamson, and it paid off big time. Williamson is already one of the best players in the league, and he has only played in a handful of games. He is a talented scorer and rebounder, and he has the potential to be a superstar in this league.
The Pelicans may have gotten lucky with the first overall pick, but they made out like bandits with Zion Williamson
The most overrated prospects in the 2019 NBA Draft
With the 2019 NBA draft now behind us, it’s time to take a look at some of the most overrated prospects in this year’s class. These are the players who, based on their projected draft position, are being drafted significantly higher than their actual talent level warrants.
1. Bol Bol C, Oregon
Bol Bol was one of the most intriguing prospects in this year’s Draft Class thanks to his unique combination of size and skill. Standing 7-2 with a 7-7 wingspan, Bol has the size and length to protect the rim and bother shooters on the perimeter. He also has a soft touch around the basket and is capable of hitting shots from beyond the three-point line However, there are significant concerns about Bol’s durability and motor. He missed most of his freshman season at Oregon due to a foot injury and he was often uninterested on the defensive end of the floor when he was on the court. Given his injury history and lack of effort on defense, Bol is a huge risk at anything higher than the late first round/early second round.
2. Darius Garland, PG, Vanderbilt
Darius Garland was viewed as a potential top-five pick before he tore his ACL in November and missed the rest of his freshman season at Vanderbilt. Garland is an excellent shooter with deep range and quick release. He also has good Court Vision and can make plays for others off the dribble. However, given that he played just five games in college, there are significant questions about his ability to adjust to playing against better competition at the NBA level. There are also concerns about his ability to stay healthy given his slender frame (6-3, 175). Given all of these factors, Garland is someone who should ideally be drafted in the middle of the first round rather than in the top 10 as he is currently projected.
3. Romeo Langford, SG, Indiana
Romeo Langford was one of the top scorers in college basketball last season, averaging over 20 Points per game for Indiana as a freshman. He has good size for a shooting guard (6-6) and is an excellent shooter from both inside and outside the arc. He also does a good job of getting to the Foul Line and finishing around the basket despite not being an elite athlete. However, there are significant questions about Langford’s ability to create his own shot off the dribble as well as his decision-making skills. He also remains an inconsistent shooter from beyond three-point range despite showing flashes of being a knockdown shooter from deep earlier in his career. Given all of these flaws in his game, Langford is someone who should be drafted in the late first round rather than where he is currently projected (mid-late lottery).
The most underrated prospects in the 2019 NBA Draft
The 2019 NBA Draft is loaded with talented players, but there are a few prospects who have been underrated throughout the process. These players might not be household names, but they have the potential to be impactful players in the NBA.
Moe Wagner is one of the most skilled big men in the draft. He can shoot from anywhere on the court, and he has a High Basketball IQ. He might not be the biggest or strongest player but he knows how to play the game
Luka Doncic is one of the most accomplished teenagers in Basketball History He has already won a EuroLeague title, and he was named the MVP of the competition. He is an incredible passer and an extremely smart player. He might not have elite athleticism, but he has all of the other tools you want in a prospect.
De’Andre Hunter is one of the best shooters in the draft. He also has a 7-foot wingspan, which makes him a very versatile defender. He might not be the most athletic player, but he has shown that he can compete against some of the best players in college basketball
