Reggie Williams was born on October 28, 1969, in San Francisco California. He is the son of former Major League outfielder Jerry Mumphrey and the nephew of Glenn Williams, who also played outfield in the majors. Reggie played high school baseball at Dublin High School in Dublin, California. He then attended Stanford University where he was a two-time All-American outfielder. He was drafted by the Montreal Expos in the first round of the 1991 Major League Baseball Draft.
Reggie made his Major League debut with the Expos in September 1991. He played for the Expos until he was traded to the Cincinnati Reds in July 1992. He spent three seasons with the Reds before being traded to the San Diego Padres in December 1994. He played for the Padres for two seasons before signing as a free agent with the Chicago Cubs in November 1996. Reggie played for the Cubs for one season before being traded to the Baltimore Orioles in July 1997.
Reggie spent two seasons with the Orioles before signing as a free agent with the Cleveland Indians in January 1999. He played for the Indians for one season before being traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates in June 1999. He played for the Pirates for two seasons before signing as a Free Agent with the Atlanta Braves in January 2002. Reggie finished his career with brief stints withthe Chicago White Sox and Tampa Bay Devil Raysbefore retiring from baseball in February 2004.
