Syracuse University Basketball Schedule

Syracuse University will open its 2019-20 Basketball season at home against Cornell on Nov. 5, the school announced Wednesday.

The Orange will play a total of 18 home games at the Carrier Dome including ACC contests against Duke (Jan. 14), North Carolina (Feb. 29), Pittsburgh (Dec. 4), Notre Dame (Jan. 18) and Louisville (Feb. 22).

Syracuse will make at least five appearances on ESPN’s family of networks, highlighted by a Dec. 3 game at Ohio State that will be shown on ESPN2. The network also will home games against Colgate (Nov. 8) and Virginia Tech (Feb. 15) as well as road contests at Georgetown (Jan. 21) and Boston College (Feb 28).

The remainder of Syracuse’s schedule will be announced at a later date, along with tip times and television information for all games.

Upcoming Games

The Syracuse University men’s Basketball team will take on the University of Pittsburgh on Wednesday, February 12th at the Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The game is set to tip-off at 7:00 p.m. and will be televised on ESPN2.

The Orange are currently 17-7 overall and 8-4 in the ACC, good for fourth place in the Conference Standings Syracuse is coming off a Big Win over then-No. 1 Duke on Saturday, February 8th, 63-55. The win snapped Duke’s 21-game Winning Streak and gave Syracuse its second win over a No. 1 ranked team this season (also defeated then-No. 1 Louisville on January 19th).

Pittsburgh is 16-8 overall and 5-7 in conference play tied for 10th place in the ACC standings. The Panthers are coming off a narrow loss to Miami (FL) on Saturday, February 8th, 57-54.

February 25th: Syracuse vs. Duke

Result: Syracuse win, 84-72

Highlights: Syracuse forward Oshae Brissett had a great game scoring 21 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. guard Tyus Battle also scored 21 points for the Orange. Duke forward Zion Williamson was held to just 18 points on 8-of-19 shooting.

Takeaway: This was a huge win for Syracuse, as they avenged an earlier loss to Duke and proved that they can compete with the best teams in the country.

March 2nd: Syracuse vs. Louisville

Result: Louisville win, 66-63

Highlights: Despite a valiant effort, Syracuse came up just short against Louisville. Tyus Battle led the Orange with 18 points, but it wasn’t enough to overcome a strong performance from Cardinals guard Jordan Nwora who scored 22 points.

Takeaway: This was a tough loss for Syracuse, as they let a late lead slip away. However, they showed that they can compete with anyone in the ACC, and will be a force to be reckoned with in the NCAA Tournament

Team News

The Syracuse University men’s Basketball team released its 2019-20 schedule on Wednesday. The Orange will open the regular season at home against Niagara on Nov. 5.

Syracuse will play its first seven games of the season at the Carrier Dome The Orange’s first road game will be against Ohio State on Dec. 1. Syracuse will also play UConn in Hartford on Dec. 5 and travel to Oklahoma for a game against Oral Roberts on Dec. 18.

Syracuse will open Atlantic Coast Conference play at home against Pittsburgh on Dec. 28. The Orange will face Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Jan. 14 and will host North Carolina on Feb. 8.

The schedule also features home games against Louisville (Jan. 4), Miami (Jan. 25), Florida State (Feb. 1), Georgia Tech (Feb 3), Notre Dame (Feb 29), Boston College (March 3) and Virginia Tech (March 7).

Syracuse will close out the regular season with a road game at Wake Forest on March 14 and a Home game against Clemson on March 7

Syracuse in the NBA

The Syracuse University Basketball Program has produced a Number of players who have gone on to play in the National Basketball Association (NBA). In total, 41 Syracuse basketball players have been drafted into the NBA.

Syracuse has had four players named NBA Rookie of the Year: Dave Bing (1966), Sherman Douglas (1989), Billy Owens (1992) and Carmelo Anthony (2003). Louis Orr is the only Syracuse player to have been named to an NBA All-Star game as a member of the Indiana Pacers in 1980.

five former Syracuse players have had their jerseys retired by their respective teams. Derrick Coleman and Carmelo Anthony had their jerseys retired by the Brooklyn Nets while Dolph Schayes, Billy Gabor and Ernie DiGregorio had their jerseys hangs from the rafters of the Buffalo Memorial Auditorium.
