Cuse Basketball Schedule must-see games This Season

The Syracuse men’s basketball team will tip off the 2017-18 Season on Friday, November 10th against Cornell at the Carrier Dome The Orange are coming off a disappoiniting 16-17 campaign in which they missed the NCAA tournament for the first time in over a decade.

With a core of returning players and some top-notch recruits, Syracuse is looking to get back to their winning ways this season. Here are five games every Cuse fan should circle on their calendar:

1. vs. Cornell (11/10) – The season opener is always a special occasion at the Carrier Dome and this year Syracuse will take on longtime rival Cornell. The Big Red upset the Orange in Ithaca last year, so Syracuse will be looking to take revenge in the 2017-18 opener.

2. vs Oregon (11/21) – One of Syracuse’s most highly anticipated games of the season will come early when they take on Oregon at Madison Square Garden as part of the 2K Classic benefitting Wounded Warrior Project. This will be a tough test for Syracuse, as Oregon is coming off an appearance in last year’s NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen

3. vs Buffalo (12/5) – Another Home game at the Carrier Dome this time against local foe Buffalo. The Bulls have been one of the best mid-major teams in recent years and nearly upsetting Arizona in last year’s NCAA tournament This should be a good test for Syracuse as they gear up for conference play

4. at Georgetown (1/6) – The first edition of the renewal of one of college basketball’s best rivalries takes place at Georgetown’s Capital One Arena. These two teams have not played each other since 2013, but there is no love lost between these two former Big East foes.
This should be a great game and it will be interesting to see how these two teams stack up against each other after several years apart.
5 ACC tournament (3/7-11) – While Syracuse’s ultimate goal is to make the NCAA tournament winning the ACC Tournament would also be a huge accomplishment. The Carrier Dome will once again play host to this year’s event, so Syracuse will have a big advantage if they can make it to the later rounds

The Syracuse Orange are set to have an exciting season of basketball ahead, with some key games that fans won’t want to miss. Here are some of the must-see games on the schedule:

-November 6th: The Orange open the season at home against Virginia, a game that will be a key early test for Syracuse.
-December 2nd: Syracuse travels to Madison Square Garden to take on Connecticut in a rematch of last year’s thrilling Big East Tournament game.
-January 17th: The Orange host Pittsburgh in a key conference game.
-February 28th: Syracuse finishes the regular season at home against Marquette, a game that could have big implications for the Conference Standings

Nov. 9 vs. Georgetown: Another early season matchup against a Big East opponent.

This will be the third meeting all-time between Syracuse and Georgetown, with the Hoyas holding a 2-0 lead in the series. The two teams met last season at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., with Georgetown coming away with a 72-71 victory. Syracuse will be looking for revenge in this one, and it should be a great early season test for both teams.

Nov. 16 vs. Connecticut: The Huskies always provide a tough test, no matter what their record is.

The Syracuse men’s basketball will face off against the Connecticut Huskies on November 16th at the Carrier Dome. This will be the first time these two programs have met since Syracuse’s 66-58 win in the 2017 NCAA tournament

Connecticut is coming off a disappointing 2018-19 campaign in which they went just 12-20 overall and 4-14 in conference play However, the Huskies always provide a tough test, no matter what their record is. They have won four National Championships since 1999 and have produced numerous NBA players including Kemba Walker Rudy Gay and Andre Drummond

Syracuse will be looking to build on their success from last season when they finished with a 21-10 record overall and 11-7 in conference play. The Orange are returning two of their top three scorers from last season in senior guard Tyus Battle and junior forward Elijah Hughes. They also added some talent to their roster with the additions of freshman wing Quincy Guerrier and graduate transfer point guard Joe Girard III.

This should be a great game between two historic programs. Be sure to catch it if you can!

Mar. 1 vs. North Carolina The Tar Heels are always a tough opponent, and this will be a key game in the ACC race.

Dec. 5 vs. Duke: One of the most anticipated games of the season, as these two powerhouse programs go head-to-head.

No. 5 Duke will travel to Syracuse to take on the No. 8 Orange at the Carrier Dome on Dec. 5, in what is sure to be one of the most highly-anticipated games of the college Basketball season

This will be the first time these two programs have met since 2016, when Duke won by a score of 75-65. Syracuse will be looking to exact some revenge on the Blue Devils and prove that they are one of the best teams in the country.

Duke is led by freshman sensation Zion Williamson who is averaging 21.6 points and 9.3 rebounds per game Syracuse is led by junior guard Tyus Battle, who is averaging 19.2 points per game

This game will tip-off at 7:00 p.m. EST and will be televised on ESPN.
