1. Matt Mitchell
Mitchell is a 6-foot-6 forward who is entering his junior year. He was named the Mountain West Conference Player of the Year last season after averaging 17.7 points and 5.4 rebounds per game Mitchell is an excellent shooter and is also a very good defender. He will be one of the leaders of this year’s team and will be expected to help lead the Aztecs to another NCAA Tournament appearance.
2. Malachi Flynn
Flynn is a 6-foot-1 guard who transferred to San Diego State from Washington State last season. He was immediately eligible to play and had a huge impact for the Aztecs, averaging 13.7 points, 4.5 assists and 3.1 rebounds per game while shooting 42 percent from three-point range Flynn will once again be counted on to provide leadership and scoring for San Diego State this season as they look to make another deep run in the NCAA tournament
3. Nathan Mensah
Mensah is a 6-foot-10 center who missed all of last season due to injury but is healthy and ready to go for this year’s team. Mensah is a very good rebounder and shot blocker and will give the Aztecs a big presence inside. Mensah will need to stay healthy this season if San Diego State wants to achieve their goal of making it back to the NCAA tournament for a fifth straight year

He was one of the best all-around players in the Mountain West last season, averaging 14.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 45 percent from the field and 39 percent from three-point range. Mitchell is an excellent scorer and shooter who can also contribute in other areas of the game, and he should be one of the Aztecs’ best players this season.
2. Malachi Flynn
Flynn is a 6’1″ guard who transferred to San Diego State from Washington State this offseason. He will have to sit out the 2019-20 season due to NCAA transfer rules, but he will be eligible to play in 2020-21. Flynn was a talented scorer in his two years at Washington State averaging 13.8 points per game while shooting 41 percent from the field and 37 percent from three-point range. He should be a key player for the Aztecs next season when he becomes eligible to play.
3. Nathan Mensah
Mensah is a 6’10” center who is entering his sophomore year. He was limited by injuries for much of last season but still managed to average 4.4 points and 3.5 rebounds in just under 12 minutes per game while shooting 61 percent from the field. Mensah has good size and athleticism and is an excellent finisher around the basket, and if he can stay healthy he could be a key contributor for the Aztecs this season.
