The San Jose State Spartans are the athletic teams that represent San Jose State University SJSU sports teams compete in the Mountain West Conference at the NCAA Division I FBS level.

Spartan men’s sports teams include baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, Ice Hockey lacrosse, track and field, and water polo. While Spartan women’s sports teams include basketball, cross country, golf, rowing, soccer, softball, track and field, volleyball, and water polo.

The university has participated in NCAA Division I FBS football since 1947 and became a member of the Mountain West Conference (MW) in 2013. The Spartans have played in 12 bowl games in their history; most recently as the runner up in the 2020 SERVPRO First Responder Bowl against Louisiana Tech

Basketball

The San Jose State men’s basketball team is currently coached by Dave Wojcik. Their home games are played at the Event Center in San Jose California. The Spartans have made 16 NCAA tournament appearances and their most recent was in 2019. As of June 2020, here is the Spartans’ roster:

-Seneca Knight: A 6-foot-5-inch shooting guard from Las Vegas Nevada. He averaged 15.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.3 steals per game as a senior at Sierra Vista High School
--Mike James A 6-foot-1-inch point guard from Los Angeles California. He averaged 8 points, 3 assists, and 2 rebounds per game as a senior at Fairfax high school
-Brae Ivey: A 6-foot-7-inch small forward from Trabuco Canyon, California. He averaged 13 points and 5 rebounds per game as a senior at Tesoro high school

The Spartans also have several players who are sitting out the 2019-2020 Season due to transfer rules or injury:

-Troy Suliaman: A 6-foot point guard who transferred from Loyola Marymount University. He will have two years of eligibility remaining starting in the 2020-2021 Season
-Nate Hollingsworth: A 6-foot Power Forward who is originally from San Jose California. He transferred from Ohlone College and will have three years of eligibility remaining starting in the 20202021 season.
Jalen Dalcourt: A 6 foot 10 inch center from Fremont, California who tore his ACL in October 2019 and will miss the entire 20192020 season

Roster

San Jose State University’s Basketball team has a long and storied history. The Spartans have seen many Great players come and go over the years, but who are the current roster?

Headlining the team is shooting guard Braeden Anderson, who is averaging 16 points per game Anderson is a transfer from the University of Colorado and is in his first season with the Spartans. He is joined in the backcourt by fellow guard Noah Dahlman, who is averaging 11 points per game Dahlman is a senior and a native of Sweden.

In the frontcourt, the Spartans are led by forward Chris Cunningham, who is averaging 14 points and 8 rebounds per game. Cunningham is a junior and has been with the team for two seasons. He is joined by forward Jaleel Williams, who is averaging 10 points per game Williams is a sophomore and hails from Chicago, Illinois.

Rounding out the roster are guards Jesse Perez and Jalen James who are both freshmen, as well as forwards Kyle Reed and Matt McCarthy, who are both seniors.
