St. Catharine College Basketball – The NIT Tournament
The National Invitation Tournament (NIT) is a single-elimination tournament played each spring in Madison Square Garden in New York City pitting some of the top college basketball teams that did not make the NCAA Tournament against each other.
The St. Catharine College men’s basketball team has qualified for the NIT four times in its history, most recently in 2017. The Patriots have a record of 1-4 in NIT games, with their lone win coming in 2015 against Virginia Commonwealth University
This season, the Patriots are led by senior guard Jordan Crawford, who is averaging 18 points per game Other Key Players include junior forward Marcus Carter (12 points, 5 rebounds per game) and sophomore guard Jamal Johnson (11 points per game).
St. Catharine will host first and second round NIT games at Alumni Memorial Gymnasium on March 14 and 16. The Pats will take on Southeast Missouri State University in the first round, with the winner advancing to play either Vanderbilt or Murray State in the second round.

St. Catharine college basketball – The CIT Tournament
The St. Catharine Patriots will compete in the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament (CIT) for the first time in program history and will host a first round game on Wednesday, March 14 at 7:00 p.m. at Lourdes Hall in their home arena, Davenport Gymnasium. The Patriots are the only team from Kentucky selected to participate in the 32-team tournament.
The CIT is an opportunity for mid-major programs to showcase their talent on a national stage and the Patriots are eager to take advantage of this opportunity. Head Coach Johnnie Turner has led the team to an impressive 19-11 record this season, which includes victories over four NCAA Division I opponents.
The Patriots will take on a yet-to-be-determined opponent in the first round of the CIT, but regardless of who they face, it promises to be an exciting game. So make sure you mark your calendars and come out to support your St. Catharine Patriots!
