The University of Detroit Mercy Titans men’s basketball team is ready to take on the competition this season. Get to know the talented roster of players that make up the team.

Kyrie Irving

Kyrie Irving is a 6-foot-3-inch point guard from Australia. He played one season of college basketball at Duke University before being drafted first overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2011 NBA draft Kyrie was named the NBA Rookie of the Year in 2012 and has been selected to four All-Star teams. He was also part of Team USA’s gold medal winning team at the 2016 Olympics.

Marques Bolden

Marques Bolden is a 6’11”, 250-pound center from DeSoto, Texas. He played his AAU Basketball with the Dallas Mustangs and attended DeSoto High School He was rated as a five-star recruit by ESPN and Rivals.com, and was ranked as the No. 10 player in the nation by ESPN Bolden chose to play college basketball at Duke University where he has been since 2016.

Jack White

Standing at 6’8” and weighing in at 235 pounds, freshman Jack White is one of the newest members of the University of Detroit Mercy Men’s Basketball team The Australia native plays Power Forward and fits right in with the Titans’ tough, physical style of play.

White brings a wealth of experience to Detroit Mercy having played for the Australian National Team in the 2015 FIBA Under-19 World Championships He also played for the Melbourne United Basketball Club of the National Basketball League one of the top professional leagues in Australia.

Jordan Goldwire

Senior Jordan Goldwire is a 6-foot-3, 190-pound guard from Duke University Goldwire was a four-star recruit in the class of 2016 and chose Duke over offers from Kansas, Louisville, and UCLA. He was ranked as the No. 58 player in the country by ESPN and the No. 8 point guard

Alex O’Connell

Alex O’Connell is a 6-6 guard from Duluth, Georgia. He played his high school basketball at Milton Academy, where he was a four-year starter and helped lead the team to a 99-11 record. As a senior, he averaged 15.4 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game O’Connell was named to the All-NEPSAC Class A team and was also named Milton Academy’s Male Athlete of the Year.

O’Connell has been a member of the Duke men’s basketball team since 2016. He appeared in 23 games as a freshman, averaging 1.5 points per game As a sophomore, he played in 37 games and averaged 2.1 points per game Last season, as a junior, O’Connell appeared in all 38 games and averaged 4.7 points per game while shooting 41 percent from three-point range

Joey Baker

Joey Baker is a 6-foot-9, 205-pound forward from Fayetteville, North Carolina He played his first two seasons of College Basketball at Duke before transferring to UC Irvine for his junior season. He averaged 5.8 points and 2.5 rebounds per game in his limited action with the Blue Devils

Javin DeLaurier

At 6’11”, Javin DeLaurier is one of the tallest members of the University of Virginia Basketball team The forward from New Jersey is a rising junior who has played a key role on the team over the past two seasons. DeLaurier averaged 2.5 points and 2.4 rebounds per game as a freshman, and saw his playing time increase last season as a sophomore. He is expected to play an even bigger role on the team this year as one of the leaders of the Cavaliers’ frontcourt.

Justin Robinson

A junior guard from Fairfax, Virginia, Justin Robinson is one of the team’s most experienced players. He was a key contributor last season, averaging 10.5 points and 3.6 assists per game Robinson is a dangerous shooter from beyond the arc, and he’s also capable of driving to the basket and finishing with either hand.

Matthew Hurt

Matthew Hurt (30) is a 6’9”, 235-pound forward from Rochester, Minnesota. A consensus five-star recruit, he was ranked as the No. 2 player in the 2020 class by 247Sports and ESPN, and the No. 3 player by Rivals. He signed with Duke in November 2019.

As a freshman, Hurt averaged 9.7 points and 4.7 rebounds per game while shooting 36.5 percent from three-point range. He scored a career-high 27 points against Notre Dame on Feb. 8, 2021.

Wendell Moore Jr.

Wendell Moore Jr. (born December 20, 1999) is an American college basketball player for the Duke Blue Devils of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). He played high school basketball for Cox Mill high school in Concord, North Carolina

As a senior, he averaged 24.9 points, 10.1 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game leading Cox Mill to the NCHSAA 4A state championship game. He was named a McDonald’s All-American, as well as the North Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year and the MaxPreps National Player of the Year. He was also a consensus five-star recruit and was ranked among the top 10 players in his class by all major recruiting services.

Moore chose to play College Basketball for Duke over offers from several other schools, including UNC Asheville NC State and Wake Forest
