The University of South Dakota women’s basketball team has had a successful season so far. They are currently 13-3 and second in the Summit League USD is led by their star senior point guard Ciara Duffy. Duffy is averaging 16.1 points per game and 5.5 assists per game She is also shooting 48.4 percent from the field and 41.7 percent from three-point range Other Key Players for the Coyotes include sophomore center Hannah Sjerven, who is averaging a double-double with 11.9 points per game and 10.1 rebounds per game and junior shooting guard Liv Korngable, who is averaging 11.8 points per game and shooting 37 percent from three-point range. With such a strong roster, the Coyotes are poised for a deep run in the Summit League tournament and perhaps even further in the NCAA tournament

The USD Women’s Basketball team is made up of some of the most talented and skilled players in the country. Here are some of the team’s players to watch out for this season:
-Senior point guard McKenzie Moriarty is a three-time All-American and the reigning National Player of the Year. She is a dynamic playmaker who can score, distribute, and defend at a high level.
-Junior shooting guard Megan Stuart is one of the best shooters in the country. She has a knack for scoring in bunches and is a dangerous threat from beyond the arc.
-Sophomore small forward Olivia Usher is a versatile player who can impact the game in a variety of ways. She is an excellent rebounder and defender, and has also shown the ability to score when needed.
-Freshman center Emily Johnson is a physical presence in the paint who can change the game with her size and athleticism. She is still raw offensively, but has all the tools to be an elite player at this level.

The USD women’s basketball team will look to build on a strong 2018-19 campaign that saw the team go 27-5 overall and 15-3 in conference play The team will be led by a talented group of key returnees, including:
-Senior guard Chelsea Dungee, who was named the 2019 WBI Tournament MVP after leading the team to the Championship game She averaged 18.5 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game last season.
-Junior guard Reggie Perry, who was named the 2019 SEC Defensive Player of the Year. He averaged 10.9 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game last season.
-Sophomore guard Mason Jones, who was named the 2019 SEC Freshman of the Year after averaging 16.9 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game last season.

As the University of South Dakota prepares to tip off its 2018-19 women’s Basketball season a look at the senior leaders that will be donning the Coyotes uniform this year. USD will be looking to rebound after a difficult 2017-18 campaign in which the team finished with a 7-23 overall record and just 2-16 in conference play
Head coach Dawn Plitzuweit enters her sixth season at the helm of the program and will be looking to her senior class to provide leadership and stability as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
The class is headlined by All-Summit first team honoree Ciara Duffy, who averaged 14.5 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game last season. Duffy will be joined in the backcourt by fellow seniors Rosenberga Dalemans and Chloe Lamb, who started all 30 games for USD last season and averaged 10.1 points per game
In the frontcourt, the Coyotes will be led by 6-foot-3 center Abigail Fogg, who averaged 5.5 points and 4 rebounds per game last season. She’ll be joined by 6-foot forward Tylee Irwin, who saw action in all 30 games last season and averaged 3 points per contest.

There are a lot of potential breakout candidates on the USD women’s Basketball Roster this season. Let’s take a closer look at some of the players who could have breakout years.
Redshirt junior guard Maya Nnaji is one player to watch. She was named to the preseason All-WCC team and is expected to be one of the leaders for the Toreros this season. Nnaji averaged 11.5 points and 5.8 rebounds per game last season and will be looking to build on those numbers in 2019-20.
Junior guard Sabrina Haines is another player to keep an eye on. She was second on the team in scoring last season (12.1 points per game) and also averaged 4.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game. Haines will be counted on to provide leadership for a young USD team this season and could see her numbers increase across the board.
Sophomore forward Sofia Chambers is another name to know. She had a solid freshman campaign, averaging 10.4 points and 5.2 rebounds per game while shooting 47 percent from the field. Chambers has the potential to be an even bigger contributor as a sophomore and could emerge as one of the Toreros’ top scorers this season.
