The University of Southern Maine’s Hockey Team is on the rise, thanks in part to the hard work of Head Coach Matt White The team has seen a lot of success in recent years culminating in a berth in the NCAA Division I Hockey Tournament in 2020.
Under White’s leadership, the team has become one of the top programs in Division I hockey. They have won multiple conference championships and have been ranked as high as #2 in the nation. The team’s success has brought more attention to the school and the program, which is helping to attract top recruits from all over the country.

Under the leadership of head coach Jeff Beaulieu, the USM Hockey program has rapidly become one of the top Division I programs in the country.
Since joining Division I in 2017, USM has compiled a record of 49-26-5, good for a .645 winning percentage. In 2019-20, the Huskies finished 19-13-4 overall and 10-9-3 in conference play earning them a berth in the Hockey East playoffs.
This past season, USM took things to another level, finishing 25-8-3 overall and 15-6-3 in conference play The Huskies earned a No. 4 seed in the Hockey East tournament and went on to win the program’s first ever conference championship
With a young and talented core group of players returning next season, there is no reason to think that USM can’t continue its ascent up the ranks of Division I hockey.

How USM Hockey is Building a Division I Contender
Since its inception in 1977, the University of Southern Maine’s (USM) Hockey Program has been a force to be reckoned with at the Division III level. After years of success, USM made the jump to Division I in 2002.
Despite being one of the newer programs at the Division I level, USM has quickly established itself as a contender. In just their second season at the Division I level, USM made it to the Hockey East Quarterfinals.

The Huskies are currently 14-6-2 overall and 9-4-2 in conference play. They are led by senior captain Kaitlyn Keon, who has tallied 9 goals and 11 assists so far this season. Keon is joined by fellow seniors Kate Hostage and Abby Lashua as the team’s leading scorers.
The USM women’s Hockey team also features a number of young players who are making an impact this season. Freshmen Julia Tylus and Teagan Kruk have combined for 8 goals and 10 assists, while sophomore goalie Ashley Currier has recorded 4 shutouts so far this season.
