The UWSP Men’s Basketball team is a Division III program that competes in the Wisconsin collegiate athletic conference (WIAC). The team has seen a lot of success in recent years including a trip to the NCAA Division III National Championship game in 2017. The team is currently coached by Matt Siverling, who is entering his fourth season at the helm.

The Pointers have appeared in six NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Tournaments Their combined record is 8–6. They failed to make an appearance from 1981 to 2001, but from 2002 to present, they have made five consecutive appearances (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011).
