The team will be led by three seniors: Kennedy Harris, Sarah Bradley, and Emily Henderson. These three ladies have been starters for the past two seasons and have been integral to the team’s success. They will be looked to for leadership on and off the court.

The rest of the starting lineup will be filled out by junior Rylee Pritchard and sophomore Mackenzie Cunningham. These two players bring a lot of energy and enthusiasm to the court and are always looking to make a big play.

The bench will be made up of mostly freshmen and sophomores who are looking to make an impact on the court. Among these players are Abbey Hays, Lauren Harper, Olivia Brown, and Riley Chambers.

The Schedule

The 2017-2018 Van Horn Eagle Girls Basketball Schedule has been released, and the team is looking forward to another successful season The schedule includes games against some of the best teams in the state, as well as several out-of-state opponents.

The team will open the season at home against Blue Valley West on November 10th. This will be followed by a road game against St. Louis power Francis Howell Central on November 17th. The Eagles will then take on another strong Missouri team, Rock Bridge, at home on December 1st.

After a short break for the holidays, the team will resume play with a road game against conference foe Blue Springs South on January 5th. The Eagles will have their first taste of out-of-state competition when they travel to Wisconsin to take on Milwaukee Academy of Science on January 12th. They will return home the following week to take on Kansas City power Lincoln Prep on January 19th.

The Eagles will have a busy February, beginning with a road game against Blue Valley North on February 2nd. They will then take on Blue Valley West at home on February 6th, followed by a road game against Lawrence Free State on February 9th. The team will conclude the regular season with two home games against Shawnee Mission East and Olathe North

The Rivalries

For many years the Levittown school district has been split into two high schools, with one side of town attending MacArthur High School and the other attending Division Avenue high school This rivalry is no different when it comes to Girls Basketball as both teams have consistently been among the best in the county.

The “Battle of the Boulevard” is always one to watch, but this year it will be even more interesting as both teams have new coaches and are starting to rebuild after some recent graduation losses. MacArthur will be led by first-year head coach Courtney Concannon, while Division Avenue will be coached by second-year Head Coach Ashley Bedell.

Both teams lost some Key Players to graduation, but they each have a few returners who will look to lead their team to victory. For MacArthur, senior guard Gianna Cipriano will be the one to watch. The Van Horn Eagle Girls Basketball team is coached by Missy Constantine and Sara Thomas. Constantine is in her first year as Head coach but has been an Assistant Coach for the team for the past two years. She has a wealth of knowledge about the game of basketball and she loves working with young players to help them improve their skills. Thomas is in her third year as assistant coach and she brings a wealth of experience to the team. She has helped the team to two State Championships and she is passionate about teaching the game of basketball to young players

The Legacy

The Legacy of the Van Horn Eagle Girls basketball team is one that will never be forgotten. This team has been to the state championship game 3 times in the last 5 years, winning it all in 2015. They have also been Conference Champions 4 times in that span. But, the most impressive feat of this team is their undefeated regular season record over the last 5 years, which currently stands at 84-0.
