Who Is the Favorite to Win the MVP Award in the 2022 NBA Season?

The 2022 NBA season is still a ways off, but that doesn’t stop us from speculating about who the favorite is to win the MVP Award Lebron James is the obvious choice, but there are a few other players who could give him a run for his money. Who do you think has the best chance of taking home the MVP trophy?

Kyrie Irving- Brooklyn Nets

Kyrie Irving is one of the best point guards in the NBA. He is a great scorer and playmaker. Kyrie has good size and speed. He is a good shooter and can make tough shots. Kyrie is also a good defender. He has all the skills to be a great player. Kyrie Irving is the favorite to win the MVP Award in the 2022 NBA season

LeBron James- Los Angeles Lakers

Lebron James has been the MVP for four seasons in his career. He is currently in his age-35 season and is playing some of the best basketball of his life. The Lakers have the best record in the Western Conference and are on pace to win over 60 games for the first time since 2010. LeBron is averaging 25 points, 7 rebounds, and 10 assists per game He is also shooting a career-high 50% from three-point range If the Lakers win the NBA Finals it is likely that LeBron will be named MVP for a fifth time.

Kawhi Leonard- Los Angeles Clippers

The Los Angeles Clippers are the reigning NBA champions and Kawhi Leonard is their best player. He was the Finals MVP in 2020, and he’s widely regarded as one of the best players in the world. It’s no surprise, then, that he’s the favorite to win the MVP award in the 2022 NBA season

Leonard is a two-Ime Nba champion, a two-time Finals MVP and a two-time Defensive Player of the Year. He’s one of the best two-way players in the league, and he has no peer when it comes to playoff experience. He’s also just 28 years old, so he’s in his prime.

The only other player with odds that are remotely close to Leonard’s is Lebron James of the Los Angeles Lakers James is a four-time MVP, and he’s widely considered to be the greatest player of all time. However, he’ll be 36 years old in 2022, and his minutes will likely be limited as he enters the latter stages of his career. As such, it seems unlikely that he’ll be able to overtake Leonard for the MVP award

Other players with somewhat long odds include Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors (30 years old), Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks (27 years old), and Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers (26 years old). All three are tremendous talents, but they don’t have Leonard’s combination of youth, experience, and dominance on both ends of the court.

In short, it looks like Leonard is going to be hard to beat for MVP honors in 2022. He’s simply too good not to win it again.

Giannis Antetokounmpo- Milwaukee Bucks

The favorite to win the MVP award in the 2022 NBA season is Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks Giannis is a 6’11” forward who was born in Greece and played Professional Basketball there before coming to the NBA. He was the 15th overall pick in the 2013 NBA draft by the Milwaukee Bucks Giannis has won two MVP Awards (2019 and 2020), and he is also a two-time Defensive Player of the Year (2019 and 2020). In 2021, he was named an All-Star for the fifth time.

Joel Embiid- Philadelphia 76ers

Joel Embiid is the favorite to win the MVP Award in the 2022 NBA season The Philadelphia 76ers center is coming off of a season in which he averaged 28.5 points and 11.0 rebounds per game He was also named to the All-NBA First Team and the All-Defensive first team.

Zion Williamson- New Orleans Pelicans

Damian Lillard- Portland Trail Blazers

In the 2021 NBA season Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard had one of the best statistical seasons of his career. Lillard averaged 28.8 points, 7.5 assists, and 4.3 rebounds per game while shooting 44.4% from the field and 37.6% from three-point range. He was also named to the All-NBA First Team for the second time in his career.

With Lillard playing at an MVP level, and the Trail Blazers expected to be one of the better teams in the Western Conference next season, Lillard is the favorite to win the MVP award in the 2022 NBA season

Donovan Mitchell- Utah Jazz

There is no clear favorite to win the MVP Award in the 2022 NBA season but Donovan Mitchell of the Utah Jazz is certainly one of the leading contenders.

Mitchell averaged an impressive 28.0 points per game last season, leading the Jazz to a top-four finish in the Western Conference He also shot 50.2% from the field and 37.5% from three-point range, making him one of the most efficient scorers in the league.

With Mitchell set to enter his fifth NBA season next year, he will be one of the most experienced players in the league and should be in prime position to lead the Jazz to another successful campaign. If he can maintain his high level of play, Mitchell will have a very strong case for MVP honors.

Jayson Tatum- Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics’ Jayson Tatum is the early favorite to win the MVP award in the 2022 NBA Season according to odds released by Caesars Sportsbook on Tuesday.

Tatum, who is entering his fifth season in the league, is listed at +1000 (10-to-1) to take home the MVP honors. The 22-year-old small forward is coming off a career year in which he averaged 26.4 points, 7.4 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game while shooting 45.0 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from three-point range.

LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers is second on the list at +1200 (12-to-1), followed by Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks (+1400), Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors (+1600) and Anthony Davis of the Lakers (+1800).

Defending MVP Russell Westbrook of the Houston Rockets is further down the list at +5000 (50-to-1).

Russell Westbrook- Houston Rockets

The 2017-2018 NBA season has just ended, and while it is still too early to tell who the favorite is to win the MVP award for the 2022 season, there are a few clear contenders. One of these contenders is Russell Westbrook of the Houston Rockets Westbrook had an incredible 2017-2018 season averaging a triple-double for the second year in a row. If he can continue to play at this high level, he will be in contention for the MVP award for many years to come.
