Since its inception in 1984, Wisconsin Lutheran College’s men’s Basketball team has enjoyed a rich tradition of success. The Warriors have won four conference championships and made five NCAA Division III tournament appearances, including a trip to the Elite Eight in 1999.

Under the guidance of Head Coach Mike Disher, the Warriors have cemented their status as one of the top programs in the Midwest. In addition to their on-court success, the team has also excelled in the classroom, garnering numerous academic honors.

The History of Wisconsin Lutheran Basketball

Wisconsin Lutheran Basketball is a winning tradition The school has a rich history in the sport, dating back to its founding in the late 19th century. Today, the team competes at the Division III level and is a regular contender for conference and national titles.

Wisconsin Lutheran’s first basketball team was formed in 1897, just two years after the school was founded. The team played its first game against a local YMCA team and won easily, 18-4. From there, Wisconsin Lutheran quickly established itself as a Basketball powerhouse The team won its first conference title in 1903 and went on to win four more in the next decade.

In the 1920s, Wisconsin Lutheran began to develop a rivalry with Marquette University another Catholic school in Milwaukee. The two teams played each other every year from 1922 to 1934, with Wisconsin Lutheran winning all but one of those games. Marquette finally got revenge in 1935, when they knocked Wisconsin Lutheran out of the NCAA tournament with a 50-33 victory.

Despite that loss, Wisconsin Lutheran continued to be one of the top teams in the Midwest throughout the 1930s and 1940s. The team won another conference title in 1942 and made it back to the NCAA Tournament in 1945. In 1946, Wisconsin Lutheran joined a new conference, the Midwest Collegiate Conference (now known as the Horizon League), where they have competed ever since.

In recent years Wisconsin Lutheran has continued its tradition of excellence on the court. The team has won eight conference championships since 2000 and made it to the NCAA tournament five times. In 2017, the Warriors made it all the way to the Elite Eight, where they lost to eventual National Champion University of Utah

Despite not winning a National Championship Wisconsin Lutheran has established itself as one of the top Division III programs in the country. The team’s success on the court is a reflection of its strong tradition of excellence dating back more than 120 years.

Basketball is a passion at Wisconsin Lutheran College, and that love of the game is evident in the impressive Wisconsin Lutheran basketball arena The facility opened its doors for the first time in 2006 to much fanfare, and it has been the home of the Warriors ever since.

The arena seats 1,500 fans and is one of the Premier Basketball facilities in the Midwest. It features a state-of-the-art sound system, a retractable seating system that allows for multiple court configurations, and an LED video board that hangs over center court.

The arena is also home to the Wisconsin Lutheran college sports Hall of Fame which celebrates the accomplishments of some of the most successful athletes in school history. The Hall of Fame is located on the second level of the arena and features interactive exhibits that tell the stories of Wisconsin Lutheran’s storied athletic tradition.

The Wisconsin Lutheran Basketball Schedule is one of the most competitive in the state. The Warriors have a long tradition of success, dating back to their first season in 1913. Wisconsin Lutheran has won 27 conference championships and has made appearances in the NCAA Division III tournament.

The Warriors are currently coached by Ryan Decristoforo, who took over the program in 2014. Wisconsin Lutheran has a rich history of success on the court, and Coach Decristoforo is looking to continue that tradition.

The Warriors play their home games at the WiscoDome, located on the campus of Wisconsin Lutheran College. The WiscoDome seats over 2,000 fans and is one of the premier facilities in Division III basketball.
