Xavier’s new women’s basketball coach

Xavier University has announced the hiring of Mike Neighbors as the new Head Coach of the women’s basketball team Neighbors comes to Xavier after a successful stint at the University of Washington where he led the Huskies to four straight NCAA tournament appearances.

“We are thrilled to welcome Coach Neighbors to Xavier,” said Xavier athletics director Greg Christopher in a statement. “He is a proven winner at the highest level of collegiate basketball and we are confident that he will continue our tradition of success on and off the court.”

Neighbors inherits a Xavier team that went 19-13 last season and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament The Musketeers will return all five starters from that team, including All-American candidate Katie Lou Samuelson

“I am incredibly honored and humbled to be given this opportunity at Xavier,” said Neighbors in a statement. “I can’t wait to get started working with this talented group of young women.”

The team’s new direction

The Xavier women’s Basketball team is entering a new era under the guidance of first-year head coach Andrew Maillet. After a disappointing 12-16 season in which the team failed to make the postseason, Maillet was brought in to help turn things around.

So far, he seems to be doing just that. The team is off to a 6-2 start this season, with notable wins over ranked opponents such as Marquette and Butler. With a more experienced roster and a more cohesive playing style, the Xavier Women are poised to make some noise in the conference this year.

Only time will tell if Maillet can lead the team back to the NCAA tournament but one thing is for sure: he has brought a new level of excitement to Xavier women’s basketball.

The players’ reaction to the change

The Xavier women’s basketball team is under new leadership this season, and the players are excited about the change. Head Coach Mike Neighbors has brought a new energy to the program, and the team is eager to get back to its winning ways.

The Lady Musketeers struggled last season, finishing with a 13-17 record overall and a 6-10 mark in conference play But Neighbors believes that his team is capable of turning things around quickly. “We have a lot of talent on this team,” he said. “I think we can be very competitive in the Big East

The players agree with their coach’s assessment. “I think we’re going to surprise a lot of people this year,” said senior guard Shayla Nelson. “We have something to prove, and we’re ready to go out and do it.”

Neighbors has already made an impact on the team, instilling a new level of confidence in his players. “He’s really positive and upbeat all the time,” said Nelson. “It rubs off on us, and we feel like we can accomplish anything when we’re out on the court.”

The Xavier women’s Basketball team is looking forward to a fresh start under its new Head coach With renewed confidence and a strong work ethic, the Lady Musketeers are ready to make some noise in the Big East this season.

Getting to know the new coach

Rebecca Lobo, the new head coach of the Xavier women’s basketball team is a familiar face to many in the world of college basketball She is a former player and coach at the University of Connecticut where she won a National Championship as a player and coached the team to five more championships as an Assistant Coach Lobo is also a former ESPN analyst and television commentator.

Lobo inherits a Xavier team that went 18-14 last season and lost in the first round of the NCAA tournament She will be looking to turn the program around and make Xavier a contender for the National Championship

Lobo is a native of Southwick, Massachusetts and attended the University of Connecticut where she was a member of the Huskies’ 1995 National Championship team. She began her coaching career as an assistant coach at her alma mater before moving on to become head coach at Fairfield University

The new coach’s philosophy

In her first year as head coach of the Xavier women’s basketball team Amy Waugh has instilled a new philosophy and changed the culture of the program. Waugh, who played collegiately at Notre Dame and then served as an assistant coach at her alma mater for 11 seasons, was hired last year to replace interim head coach J.D. Longo.

Waugh’s philosophy is based on three pillars: relationships, development and mentality. She has emphasized building relationships with her players, both on and off the court, in order to create a family atmosphere within the team. She has also placed an emphasis on player development working closely with her staff to improve each player’s individual skillset. Finally, she has instilled a winning mentality in her players, stressing the importance of competing every day in practice and in games.

This new philosophy has led to results on the court. Xavier finished the regular season with a 20-10 record, their best finish since 2013-14, and earned a berth in the Women’s National Invitational Tournament (WNIT). The team also won their first-ever game in the Big East conference tournament defeating DePaul in the Opening Round before falling to eventual champion Marquette in the quarterfinals.

Despite the progress made this season, Waugh knows that there is still Room for Improvement “I’m never satisfied,” she said after Xavier’s loss to Marquette. “I want us to be better tomorrow than we were today.” With Waugh at the helm, it seems likely that Xavier women’s basketball will continue to get better in the years to come.

The new system the team will be running

After a disappointing season, the Xavier women’s basketball team is looking to start anew. Head coachools Chris Dailey has implemented a new system that she believes will help the team regain its footing. The team will be running a Motion Offense which emphasizes player movement and ball movement. This style of offense should help the team create more open shots and generate easier scoring opportunities. In addition to the new offense, the team will be focusing on defense and rebounding. Coach Dailey believes that these two areas were big problems for the team last season and that they need to be addressed in order for the team to be successful. With a new system in place and a focus on improving in the areas that need it, the Xavier women’s basketball team is hoping to turn things around and have a successful season

What the new era will mean for Xavier women’s basketball

The Xavier women’s Basketball team has a new head coach for the first time in almost two decades. Coach Treva Mitchell inherits a team that has made the NCAA tournament four times in the last five years, including a trip to the Sweet Sixteen in 2019.

What will the new era mean for Xavier women’s basketball? Coach Mitchell will bring her own style of play and coaching to the program, and it remains to be seen how that will affect the team’s on-court success. Nonetheless, Xavier fans can be hopeful that the team will continue to be one of the top programs in the country under Coach Mitchell’s leadership.

The team’s goals for the new era

In the past few years, the Xavier women’s Basketball Team has seen a lot of success. They’ve won multiple conference championships and have made it to the NCAA Tournament several times.

Now, the team is looking to take things to the next level. They want to win a National Championship

To do that, they’ll need to work hard and maintain their focus. But they’re confident they can do it. They have the talent and the drive to succeed.

This is a new era for Xavier women’s basketball. And they’re ready to make some noise.

The challenges the team will face in the new era

The Xavier women’s Basketball team will face a number of challenges in the new era. First and foremost, they will need to replace the production of All-American guard Dee Dee Jernigan, who graduated last season. Additionally, the team will have to deal with the loss of Head Coach Melanie Balcomb, who left for Vanderbilt after 14 seasons at Xavier. Finally, the team will need to mesh together a group of players with varying levels of experience, as they only have two seniors on their roster. While these challenges may seem daunting, the Xavier women’s Basketball team is more than capable of meeting them head on and coming out on top.

Why this new era is exciting for Xavier women’s basketball

The Xavier women’s basketball team is entering a new era, and there are many reasons to be excited about it.

First and foremost, the team has a new head coach in Katie Smith. Coach Smith is a proven winner at the collegiate level, having won two National Championships as a player at Ohio State and another as a head coach at Seton Hall She inherits a Xavier team that has plenty of potential, and she will no doubt be looking to lead them to new heights.

Secondly, the team has two very talented young players in Airiana Denton and Essence Baucom. Both players were highly touted recruits coming out of High School and they have already shown flashes of greatness in their brief collegiate careers. With Coach Smith at the helm, they will have every opportunity to develop into All-American caliber players.

Lastly, the team has added some very talented newcomers to the roster who will make an immediate impact. transfers Jazmine Jones and Azurá Stevensboth should be major contributors from day one, while freshman Aaliyah Edwards is one of the most highly touted recruits in program history.

All in all, there are plenty of reasons to be excited about Xavier women’s basketball’s new era. Coach Smith is a proven winner, the team has young talent at every position, and there is plenty of depth on the roster. This could very well be the beginning of something special for Xavier women’s basketball.
